Yes this deal was made definitely for the future. I don't get why everyone is bashing the OP for being genuinely worried that this deal back fired for the Rockets. This hasn't just been with the Rockets, T-Rob hasn't shown any flashes of offensive skill even with Kings. I understand patience but I can understand being worried as well.

What's done is done, can we please move on? It's not like 2Pat was some super player anyway.

In fact, he was the worst player in our rotation. Except for Smith I guess.

No, he didn't suck on defense. He wasn't great, but he was far from sucking, and the thing that I liked was that he was getting better at it. He showed steady improvement at it, and is still a young player.

There is no doubt that there were players that gave Patterson trouble. That's different than overall sucking.

You know who makes 2Pat look like a super player in comparison? Thomas Robinson. And Motiejunas' defense.

Worst DRTG on the team. Worst DRAPM on the team. Worst DRB% of all bigs, including Morris. Lowest BLK% of all the bigs. Third to last in DWS of rotation players.

Patterson was terrible and the OP should feel bad for thinking he was any good.

Ppat's downfall was his mustache. With everything going on, it was easy for daryl to forget he was only 23 and not 29.

The problem is a lot of players have magical games against the Rockets this year.

its pretty much the fact that we defended them with a combo of D-Mo, Robinson, and Delfino. Also the fact that they are both good players.

True! I've heard many players scoring career highs etc. against us, but we are setting some records too. Anyway, it's more fun to watch.

2Pat and Morris weren't taking this team anywhere, and it was obvious. Those guys are role players at best. They were not part of the future of this team so we flipped them. This team has some obvious holes and Morey is trying to fill them with good components, not marginal role players.

Your schtick lately is reminding me of Tallanvor in the D&D...

As Morey said, the publicly available defensive ratings are generally meaningless.

He is struggles with rebounds but he does not miss rotations or gives his man a free run at the basket like Motiejunas did several times in the clip posted above. Both his own coach and commentators like Matt Guokas, who worked Orlando's TV broadcast last night, praised Patterson's D.

Patterson is also quite efficient offensively, having a 57% TS% on the yr and a low TO rate.

I'm not talking about garbage like that. I'm talking about his actual play, and his actual improvement.

It's fine to disagree. Patterson was pretty good, and getting better. That was what I liked about him.

The things I didn't like about him is that there were games where he'd just disappear. Everyone has bad games but Patterson would have games where he'd basically disappear.

They were getting fewer and farther in between. But Patterson had a good attitude worked to improve and was definitely superior in defense to Dmo.

I'm glad we won, and I want everyone on the team to do well. I'm not sold that Robinson was a deal worth taking, and that DMO is the answer to our PF problems.

Patterson's offense was definitely above average.

I love Dmo, but this video shows his defense sucked big time. Oh boy, he has a long way to go.

What happened to funny "sexual inuendo" Carl Herrera? What caused you to become grumpy Carl Herrera?

This was a move to dump salary for our big off season and add two more trade chips to our stash (pumping up Dmo and TRob).

The Trob fan hype is just that, hype. I have no idea why McHale is playing him, but this move is clearly a step back this year, however it sets us up to take three steps forward in the off season.

I like Patterson a bunch and I was sad to see him go, but it was expected. The funny thing is, the trade seems to have masked the Morris salary dump trade, implying Phoenix was some sort of facilitator.

To think of it as win now move, imho, is dumb.

Uh, that's what actually happened on the court. He doesn't rebound, protect the rim, cause turnovers, and the defense is worse whenever he steps foot on the court relative to the average NBA player. And what improvement are you talking about? He's not even as good as he was in his rookie year.

Patterson sucked. Morey was smart in knowing that replacing him with someone who might also suck doesn't hurt the team, especially when the replacement has a much higher chance of eventually not sucking.

4game in nba were he gets above 15mins/game. Once actually learns about his position players abilities and tendencies, he will be better.
Also about this game, Dmo was trying to defend abit back from, so opponents couldnt try to drive, but they were hitting there every shot, i saw assistant coach talking to Dmo, prolly telling him to guard closer, then they just drove past him. Obviously he needs to work on his positioning.
