The rockets have some major retooling to do before they worry about defense. Whats wrong with having an offensive spark plug you can summon for instant offense , speed, and spreading the floor during dry spells?
He does not know the team or the culture. New coach, new offense, new teammates, new role. He's familiar with the uniform, and that's about it.
It's pretty clear that Morey's still making moves with an eye on the future rather than the present. Brooks is likely a guy they want to bring in, take a look, and see if there's a future with him. Because you never know when a trade scenario would arise where you may need depth. If anything, this might hint that Lin is more tradeable than cynical fans with the "Les wants Chinese money" line of thinking may assume.
Aaron Brooks is a very good three point shooter. He was on a roll until he got injured stepping on Ginobili's foot after a halfcourt heave. Looked like a really bad injury. After that , somehow he wasn't himself again.
yup. He was my favorite rocket player after landry got traded he was putting up borderline AS like games and then it went down hill..
The GM that traded him away is still here, so he knows he's still just another asset. And The Breakfast Klub is still here.
I can just see it, Brooks, the old veteran will be all "yo, y'know I built the toyota center right? I was here before all yalls"
umm he didnt play in the nba last year bc of the strike.. year before that for the rockets he averaged nearly 12 points (2 yrs ago) a year before that he averaged close to 20 (3 years ago) come on man how is that a long time ago?
I don't really like this signing for the Rockets. You just a made a trade removing 1/3 of the rotation for Robinson who's probably not going to contribute much this season. Patrick Beverly is starting to play well and becoming a nice spark off the bench. If Aaron Brooks is immediately thrown into the rotation this is going to eat into Beverly's minutes which I don't like. Brooks is what he is at this point, a good penetrating guard with a good 3pt shot who plays terrible defense and doesn't move the ball well. He had very little impact with the Kings this season so I don't see the point of this signing unless only for insurance purposes. Basically I like this signing if he's only going to be a 3rd string PG and won't cut into Beverly's minutes too much.
Why do we need Brooks? Isn't Beverley playing well? AB can't guard the 2, heck, he can barely guard the 1. Plus he's already 28.
It was the season before his fallout with the Rockets, which the guy I was responding to said was a "long, long time ago".
