I wish this were the regular season. Even though its quite possible they would go on to lose the two games they tied late, its an exiting start and wish the games counted.
Yeah. Looking deeper, he would be 30 at the time of a trade, so 2 C-levels sound about right. Although, he has a legitimate shot of going 25-20, a feat that would put him in some rare company when looking at those who did it last year: McCutchen Heyward I. Desmond A. Rios R. Braun BJ Upton M. Trout Not saying he is the same caliber of player as these guys, but he would be on the list.
Wouldn't say its a legitimate shot. It's possible but its also entirely possible he hits .200 and plays himself out of the lineup.
He was 18-9 last year. With 200 extra ABs and a coach who wants to run, he certainly has a legitimate shot at 25-20. Not a guarantee but a shot.
I'm hoping Carter takes LF and JD takes RF by storm. Gives Freiman a chance to fit in the lineup, and an overall powerful line up and lets them build a much greater trade potential.
Peña sends one out. According to Robert Ford, that is the Astros' 14th homer in Spring Training game #9.
Pirates get to John Ely for 5 in the bottom of the 2nd. 3 of those runs were off of him, and he was pulled with 2 outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd. Sam Demel came on and allowed both runners to score on an error by Tyler Greene.
Chris Carter scored on a bloop double from Brett Wallace. All the way from 1st. Also, nice showing from Folty!
Looking at Maxwell's career numbers. He has 27 HR and 20 SB in 612 PA which is actually a little less than a full season. His career OPS in .737, Nationals park brought it down, Minute Maid brings it up, so i don't think last year was a fluke. He is an excellent defensive player, so a .760 OPS with 20-25 HR actually makes him a good starter. A 3.2 career WAR in less than a full season. He is under control until 2017 which is in the contention window, and Luhnow is a numbers guy. I don't think he will be in a hurry to trade him unless he can get good value in return.
There have been Astros games on MLB Network this spring. I've recorded them. I'm pretty sure FSN didn't televise any live spring traning games last year...not postiive of that though.
They showed 1-2, as they have for the past few years. Definitely enjoying the increased coverage this year (I think they're televising 10 games)... kinda wished they would show all the games like the other RSN's do for their teams (Phillies, Yankees, Red Sox), but I understand they likely will once the demand is there.
