I think you're missing the point of the article though. The author is using that title just to draw in readers, but if you look at what I believe to be the author's main point, then the article starts making some sense. And his point, if I am reading it correctly, is what many have been saying, let the PG be a PG. The more assists Lin has, the higher the probability of a Rockets win. The writer stated that in February, “seven of their 10 victories, Lin had at least seven assists. This means, when Lin distributes the ball efficiently, the Rockets are penetrating and getting open and eventually, they are also winning. In only two of their nine loses has Lin totaled more than seven assists.” What is different about this article is that the writer did not focus on the scoring, but emphasized distribution of the ball. The poster ‘Mourning Wood’ stated that Lin is the wildcard as he is highly inconsistent and is the only starter to not have a specified role, and I think he is right on both accounts. The problem is this, if your offensive system allows for 4 different point guards, of course the traditional point guard won’t have a role and will be even more inconsistent than he already is. If people don’t believe Lin is a legit scorer, or even a legit 2nd scoring option, fine, then he needs to be given more opportunities to really distribute to actually find some semblance of an identity on this team.
I never said I expect a SG to have a post game. I only said that you can't depend on the ref to make the correct call for a win in games. This is especially true in playoff where games get much more physical.
He usually doesn't though. When the game is on the line he usually takes a jumper, he does drive at times but it is hardly ever to get a call, it's to get a layup. When he hit that near circus shot, high off the glass Wednesday was he driving to get the call? The reason Harden actually has so many And1s is because he doesn't drive to get the call. He gets contact and finishes the play. You don't get and1s by looking for calls because you are so concerned with getting a call that you can't finish the play.
Harden and Lin are good topics. I get it. But they are not our problem right now. How about somebody starts discussing defensive chemistry.
Another problem with the defense is that the darn rookies at the 4 and 5 cant stop being rookies. Greg Smith can’t stay in the game and from the looks of the last game against the bucks, nor can T-Rob. But that is just another problem, the team defense overall just does not cut it, but I think that also has to do with the offensive structure of the team and Asik not being on the floor.
Touch fouls, he doesnt get clobbered like lin. Defense trys not to foul harden but harden goes into the defender and back out again. Where lin just goes straight to the hoop. Lin's gotta learn to draw fouls but getting the call is another story.
but harden has no interests in playing d. i have no idea on whether he spent all his energy on offense or what else reason is.
I don't admit that. His style of play is no different than when Shaq was swinging elbows at everyone on the offensive end to create space. Harden swings his arms to create space, there is nothing wrong with that.
I went back and reread the article and you're right that there are good points in it - particularly the correlation between assists and wins. I think though everyone should be concerned more about whether Harden and Parsons have any "fuel left in the tank" for the playoffs as they've been playing heavy minutes all year.
What does that even mean, championship level point guard? Avery Johnson is a championship level point guard.
So is Mario Chalmers. Really legitimizes his being a top 10 point guard. Not in the lower part, but in the middle part of the top 10.
I can remember 4 occasions where the game was on the line and he has the ball. The last shot was either blocked or he was on the way up and no call. I think when the game is on the line, we should play big and try to score inside. This is why I thought having DMo in the Bucks game during the last possession would make more sense. His D is still not there but he would have given us a greater chance to rebound on the offensive and defensive board as well as have a post scoring option.
Whatever Mchale said to Lin after the thunder victory has rocked his world. Lin has been destroyed yall. You won't see another 20 point game from him till next year. The dudes' confidence has been destroyed. He's confused. He doesn't know his role. He doen'st like his role. He has too much pressure. Harden 28 Points, 8 assists, 6 rebounds. Lin 9 Points, 6 assists,4 rebounds. Rockets win.
If we let this game slip, I'll have no choice but to remain pessimistic for the rest of the remaining games.
My prediction for tonite. Rockets lose James Harden 8 TO JLin only 8 pts. Team will implode and collapse
Hahaha ... Still butt hurt over that ass whooping the Rockets gave the GS. Warriors are we? Don't worry, we'll give your team another ass whooping in a week or so.

Somebody made a good point a few games back that the r****dé iso-initiated offense the Rockets keeps trying and keeps failing at may be what the organization wants to run, not the coach. I thought that was a plausible hypothesis. How else do you reconcile McHale's reputation as a PnR coach and the fact that we have games where we go 3.5 quarters without a single screen for Lin? Surely if you avoid on-ball screens altogether for 3.5 quarters, it's by design, but it's not necessarily by McHale's design. You can probably say the same thing about the small ball philosophy in general.
