Going to go again, will make it my fourth year in a row. Very entertaining and enjoyable every time. Last year my buddy had those Nike wristbands so we got into a lot of the big shows no problem. Plenty of events there that are free so I wouldn't worry about buying wristbands, especially if you are a first timer.
I wanted to go to SXSW Interactive again this year, but the price increase to $1000 was just too ridiculous.
Will be working at the Hype Hotel for the second year in a row! Hoping to catch more other stuff this year though.
Depends on where you are. Round Rock is very reasonable and taxes are relatively low (thanks to Dell). Yes, it's a suburb. But even in bad traffic, I'm no more than 30 minutes from downtown.
Thanks for the heads up. I made sure to RSVP this time around. Last year, I didn't RSVP and the people at the gate were strict about it for the first few days. Hype Hotel had some good bands last year in the shows I was able to get into. The free Taco Bell was cool too.
haha sorry about that; when the boss is there you gotta toe the company line. Lemme know when you plan on checking in, if I'm working then I might could get you an upgrade.
just RSVP for Hype Hotel, will be there Saturday for sure. The free Divine Fits, Jim James and Flaming Lips show at Auditorium Shores should be too sweet. Yeah Yeah Yeahs are playing at Stubbs on the 13th, any ideas on how I can get in without a wristband or badge?
I'm assuming I will be able sense and feel Basso's conservative morals if he is downtown even even all the way from north Austin???
