Calm down. You're using hindsight and this trade was to get more potential at the 4. Also, clearly, Robinson still has a lot of trade value, more than Patterson. We can still trade him this summer. The playoff race is a bonus this year. I'd easily trade away a playoff spot this season to get that second all-star this summer. Fans can be really shortsighted...

First of all, lets remember that the Kings essentially tanked a season to get Robinson. The Rockets did not. The Rockets gave up next to nothing but a rotational PF to take a swing at him when they already had proven talent to take over the position regardless.

D-Mo was eventually going to win minutes over Patterson/Morris and their value would have gone bye-bye. This was as low risk as it gets unless you think Patterson/Morris were the missing piece to a championship team which obviously they are not.

-I agree that T. Robinson could very well be in the same class as the duds like T-Will, Flynn, or Thabeet eventually, but all Im saying is now nobody really knows what kind of a future this guy will have long term right now(even Kings die hards who think they know his game inside and out), and more importantly, nobody really understands what Morey's plans are for Robinson here in the near future.

If its about who is a better fit for the future, even as a run the floor, high energy, super rebounder, its arguable that Robinson might actually be a better fit for this team moving forward than Patterson, and Morris assuming that they are that high on D-Mo being the long term starter OR that they are going after an all-star big man this Summer that they think would be the main guy moving forward.

Also, whose to say that if people around the league thought that the Rockets were "fleecing" or stealing a lotto pick from the Kings, that he might actually still have better trade value this Summer than Patterson, or Morris? Especially since both of those guys are going to be expiring in a year or two, and D-Mo would eventually had depleted their value in trades. Robinson sort of sets the clock back a year or two.

There are just so many long term variables to think about with the Robinson acquisition, D-Mo promotion, and the Morris/Patterson subtraction that I believe that I could look like a fool 3 months down the road by having a strong opinion RIGHT NOW about exactly who this kid is as a basketball player, and more importantly.... what he means to the Rockets future.

Hi all, new user here. I do apologize for getting out of topic for a moment, but reading about the Thomas Robinson, as well as the other new additions the team have acquired, I was thinking if perhaps this is the most diverse NBA team ever assembled. I mean both in ethnic makeup, as well as nationality. I do not know offhand if this is the case, but was wondering if anyone here could answer that. Thanks, and again I apologize for getting out of topic...

If Cody Zeller is on the board when the Wizards pick then I'm hoping Morey offers up TRob for that boy. TRob is from DC and they need a PF that is athletic and fast to run with that backcourt. They've also got Nene in the middle. Just say'n.

Robinson, or Jones would most likely only be appealing to a team looking to move a high salary player to get young/cheap high upside players/picks in return.

Washington moving Zeller for Robinson doesn't really make any sense for the Wiz.

Sure it does. They've got Nene in the middle. Zeller is a 5. They need a 4.

Cody Zeller is a 4 who can play the 5. Everyone and their mama has compare him to Lamarcus Aldridge. No one is going to trade Zeller for 6'7'' Robinson.

Kings don't tank, they just stink. But tanking (or stinking) has that mystique of will you get #1?...who will be available at my spot?...etc...That mystery is gone. That #5 pick was worth waaaaay more than TRob. They'll keep Cousins. They'll keep Evans. Even with their issues they keep them on because they see glimpses of talent that they can't replace. But they've seen enough of TRob to say, sell now because his value is dropping. Now the Rockets might be able to turn him into a Hill jr but that might take years. But keeping him and playing him spot minutes where he underperforms is just going to drop his value further. I'd love to think that he's going to be the next Bosh but I think his value will come as an expiring contract or flyer contract filler. I really don't mean to trash him but I just don't see him as an asset like the rest of the board does.

I think getting rid of Morris would have given DMo the time he needed to grow without sacrificing the Ws. I truly believe we would have had an awesome series we could have built on even if it resulted in a 1st round bounce. I think that experience now is in question.

Yeah....they wouldn't trade the #5 pick for PPat either.

A few games and people are already pining for PPat and Morris, lol

Didn't you guys know Morey made this move for the future, not to help us make the playoffs this season?

If nothing else, T-Rob is a much stronger trade asset in the offseason than PPat+Morris.

Can we wait just a little bit?

The rockets are 2-2 since the trade, not 0-4. Their two wins coming against the Thunder and the Nets. No reason to say this trade has knocked them out of the playoffs.

They are a young team, they will drop some games they can win and win some games you think they shouldn't. I don't think Morris or Patterson is worth all the wins people are given them credit for.

We seem to think Patterson is now worth 8 or so wins and Morris too?

All you folks doubting Robinson are in for a big surprise as he's got major game. It might not be quantifiable in the way you want at the moment. But, again, as others have said, this is about the future. We're not competing for a title anytime soon. This guy elevated his play bigtime in the tournament, which is very often a signal of things to come. All this talk about his height is baloney. Thomas has sick reach/ athleticism ... and brings a J out to 15 -17. It amazes me to see so many who obviously haven't seen him play...and/or can't grasp the translation to the Association.

Morey continues to cover Les's behind in mystical ways.....getting this kid for the flotsam we gave up was a coup of epic proportions.

Worst case scenario we're looking an Antonio/ Dale Davis type( not chopped liver by a longshot in itself) , with an upside of a healthy Dice.

This is our society in a nutshell. No one saves money always living check to check, no one can look more than 10 feet in front of them while driving, instant gratification only, no foresight what so ever.

I will shut up for now. I said what i think and my words dont really matter. i do think Patterson was good enough to get us in and was looking forward to it. The chemistry was special and it's going to take awhile to get that back.

Btw..i was all for trading Morris to give DMo time.

i wasnt happy about not signing Dragic but signing Lin. Now I am glad we did...except for the way the LOFs trash up the game threads. TRob has some work to do to have a similar story.

He looked pretty bad his first game, but I'll excuse it due to nerves and not being used to the system. Hopefully we see some improvement.

Yeah it's really diverse. Probably one of the most diverse teams ever when you look at both race and nationality. However, if you wanted to discuss that further you'd probably be better off creating a new thread because this thread is about something completely different.

So does McHale go back to him tonight or does Jones get out of the doghouse?
