Lin's passing was TREMENDOUS this game, as was his defense on brandon jennings who was completely held in check the whole game. those are straight up facts.
what does the last time out during the 4th have to do with lin being scared and only shooting the ball 11 times?
If Lin steps up, plays a great game, and the team wins, he gets blamed by Mchale for being selfish. If he defers to Harden and does what the coaches wanted, he gets criticized for being too passive. There are only really 2 (maybe 3) people to blame here. And it's Harden for being a selfish player who gets too much of a pass, and Mchale/Sampson for being turrible coaches. Ask Calvin Murphy.
Only the Rockets get that value. They made it where a small market team could do this deal to get good talent away from a high value big market tea. If they had only hurt the original team and no other in a trade then big market teams would do trades with each other in order to manipulate contracts to stay under the tax.
Yeap, and it's not like Harden is a selfish player because he spent years with Durant and Westbrook. So Lin has the opportunity, he just has to take it...
The Houston coach calls his playmaker “a home run hitter,” and doesn’t mean that in a good way. “Sometimes he’d rather have 25 points and seven turnovers and I tell him, ‘Jimmy, we’re trying to win,’ ” McHale said.
How can he take more shots if he's not getting the ball even if he called for it? Case in point: @ 3:46 Harden was pushing the ball up, Lin was at the elbow, Parson was at the corner. Lin had his hands up waiting anticipating for pass, and Harden opted to pass over Lin to Parson at the corner to brick a 3. I am not going to question Harden's decision, but this just to illustrate that Lin was not as timid as you were harping on him. Not to mention that he took the ball to the rim a lot in the 4th, not exactly being scared to shoot the ball as you made him out to be.
Show me a game that "Lin stepped up and played a great game and his team won" where McHale ever blamed Lin for being selfish. This is the second time I've asked this question and I'm still waiting for an example. P.S. Harden is not being overall selfish, he's doing what a #1 option on the youngest team in the league should do.. carry his team, especially on a team where the #2 guy wants to concede to role player status, even has that team in the playoff hunt. Also when did "ask Calvin Murphy" become a defense? Please tell me this is a sarcastic posts, if it is.. it's genius.
Or he can bring his FG% up and help out more in scoring that way. But sure having a bad night of shooting again and to compensate just have him heave more could work too. Tough call.
10 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals, 1 block shot, 2 TOs....LOL anyone calling these stats on impact must have their head check. Let's do some simple imaginary math: 10 points = 10 points 3 rebounds = potentially leads to minimum 6 points 7 assists = minimum 14 points 3 steals = potentially leads to minimum 6 points This equates to a possible minimum total 36 points - 4 points (2 TOs) = 32 points (not to mention -2 points for a block shot). If 32 points out of 107 total points is what you consider "little overall impact"...that's just lame. An impact is just not about scoring...that's why CP3 is so valuable. CP3 doesn't need to score 30 points like Melo to have a major impact cause he gets 15 points but also dishes out 10 assists.....
except knicks, every team (including big market teams) could sign an offer sheet of this type as long as their cap allow. i am not sure your logic works here.
Ya Lin was wide open and the easier pass but whatever. Looks like Lin is not going to play hero ball anymore.
Already asked and answered by Coon. If Lin had been matched, then he would count as 5/5/15 no matter which team he got traded to later; similarly, if Lin was not matched, then he would count as 8.3/8.3/8.3 no matter which team he got traded to later. The only thing that mattered when it came to how his salary would count to a team they traded him to was whether the offer was matched in the first place.
Yup, I know James will get better but as of right now it's frustrating to watch. He gets puts on the worst offensive players and I think 3 or 4 times already they've had career or season highs lol it's bad. In the off-season, James better work his butt off on defense Jeremy better work his butt off on 3's Chandler better work his butt off on dribbling Delfino better work his butt off learning how to draw a charge correctly.
Wait, so from what I gather the Rockets lost this game because Lin played too much and too little, McHale was innefective, TRob is a trade bust and because Royce White is going on Dr. Phil. Ok great. How much of that is actually fixable?...
