I have noticed that it's not half-dependent, but screen-dependent. You ever notice that Lin often gets 5 or 6 screens in the 1st half, then 1 in the 2nd half? Yeah. In the one game where McHale made a half time adjustment the other way around, from not screening for the ball carrier to screening for the ball carrier, Lin did the exactly opposite. It's not half-dependent; it's screen-dependent.
McHale: Ball got tipped around and they got it. We got a couple of opportunities. Ball got tipped. It was a scramble at that point. Everybody gotta come back and try and get one. Parsons: We got complacent. We stopped running our offense. Defense wasn't very good tonight. Back cut, not blocking out, little things like that, bad game overall.
We have a push the ball mentality... That usually means getting yourself out of position defensively, attempting to fill passing lanes, and getting roasted by opposing wing players.... Parson's is just settling into McHales's defensive scheme.....
Whenever we are on a roll, the coaching staff should milk it and should not make unnecessary substitution.
Stop. Just. Stop. Your argument failed as soon as you brought up the Wizard game. Also, I am not sure what you were watching, but Lin was aggressive in the 4th when Harden was resting. He passed when the defense collapsed on him, making plays or setting up Parsons and Delfino to brick 3s. His flaws in the 4th was his airball floater and a bailed out by Asik ally-oop. And in case you didn't notice, he couldn't be more aggressive when Parsons was playing PG and turning the ball over. And speaking Harden's TO, your double standard is laughable. Just like Lin, Harden needs to be criticized for his TO.
lin is doing what mchale wants him to do, bringing up the ball (singles) and getting teammates involved (doubles), no more home runs (scores and TOs)
Let me see how many points Jennings wanted in this game. OMG, a whopping 8 pts. As a max player wannabe, he really need to start wanting more in a game like this, not to mention Lin would've given whatever he wanted.
Bucks last 8 points scored off offensive rebounds. Wondering why T Jones couldn't get time ahead of Robinson, given he is familiar with the system. He is a PF.
The Rockets has no great one on one perimeter defense...and Lin is their top one...which says a lot about how bad in defense this team is. Also, if you look at it most guards are so quick in their own way you can't really guard them one on one and must utilize team defense to stop them. Watching the game you can see that even Lin can blaze by Jennings a few times to the basket. That's why this team isn't going anywhere until you get improve/add more defense to the 4 and 5 spot (when Asik is out).
I'll add to this- Common sense: stop playing Delfino at the 4, especially in the last possession of the game when getting a stop and a rebound was critical
I just don't understand why some people could just turn a blind eye on Harden turning the ball over at a high rate & his piss poor defense. Most of his TOs tonight led directly to fastbreak points for the Bucks, including 2 careless TOs in quick succession where the 2nd one is an end of the quarter 3pts shot. Every TO is a lost of possession & in Harden's case, fastbreak pts for the Bucks. That's a swing of 2 to potentially 6 pts. That's huge. And his defense (or lack thereof) on Ellis & Redick is killing the team. And it's not just this game I'm talking about, he has not given enough efforts on defense in other games as well. Basketball, like any ball game, is about point differential. It's meaningless if you can score a bunch but at the same time let your opponent score the same or more. That is why you do not practise selective accountability. Harden is the franchise's 80million dollar man, and if you do not hold him accountable, who else would give a damn? That is my biggest concern with the coaching staff, they seem to give him a pass even when he makes glaring mistakes on defense & on TOs. He 23 yo & is still moldable. If he developed a big ego & the bad habbit of not giving a damn on defense, there goes another 6yrs of mediocrity for this franchise.
Sampson showed McHale what he needed to do then once he came back he continued what Sampson started. He's not coaching he is just telling them what not to do that's wrong... That's the kind of coach he is. Straight negative dude. Telling Lin he needs to not focus on scoring so much.. If Lin can score 29, 39 or 60 let him go we need to just outscore teams and win! Attack attack attack and don't think. McHale is making them stop and think and then they suck.
And T-Rob had a whooping -18 in those few minutes by making one dumb decision after another, there's a reason why he played so little. Harden had as many assists as turnovers, nice ratio . Also check how his defense was on your little boxscore, oh that's right that doesn't show. Either you didn't watch the game or you're new to this sport and think the boxscore tell the whole story, which is far from the truth.
