It wasn't about what Lin was doing; it was about what D-Mo was doing, namely setting screens to initiate the offense relentlessly. This is devastatingly effective with Lin and very effective with Harden. We were just killing the Bucks with it. There really is no good reason why setting screens to initiate the offense stops whenever D-Mo sits on the bench. Surely somebody other than D-Mo knows how to set a screen to initiate the offense. Do they not trust Asik or T-Rob to finish in PnR or what? Does Parsons lack the skills to set a pick when he plays the 4? I am trying to understand WTF not.
No effing clue. They call him a scrub role player but blame him the most when the team loses. Our D was terrible. Too many TO's. This was a team loss.
Jennings was very un-Jennings during that last possession. I honestly expected him to just chuck that shot instead of passing to Ellis.
there were some serious flashes in that early first quarter where they all seemed to be working with each other. i hope they can fine tune that. it looked really sharp and impressive...then they let up.
When you buildup a massive lead in the first Q, it's important to maintain the lead so that you have enough buffer down the stretch. The coaching didn't think maintaining the lead is as important as seeing what the new guy can bring. In fact, they could play T-Rob significant minutes in the 4th Q if they make an effort to maintain the big lead. Instead, they just threw it away. That was a painful loss.
Might have been better to let Jennings take that last shot lol... BTW Ellis is shooting less than 30% from 3. That shot was just a terrible fluke.
Actually he looked like he was, but Lin did a good job defending him. He was trying to get Lin off his feet and draw a foul, but he couldn't. So he passed it off to Ellis the last second. Ellis just got lucky.
You can cut him some slack (ahem, 7 TO) I suppose, but then why rip on Lin. This is exactly the game McHale wants Lin to bring, day in day out.
AGAIN, he wasn't signed to be a role player.. People throw the word selfish around like it's a bad thing. Sometimes it's not always a bad thing. Guess what Lin was also unselfish against the Wizards (another game where we blew a 17 point lead) where he just hesitated on wide open shots and then passed off to players who had little chance of getting a bucket down the stretch. Lin could afford to be more assertive, defenses barely have to defend him at times which only draws more attention to their other scores (like Harden) And speaking of Harden, LOL at all the people trying to knock him down for his 9 TOs. He's the one player who can actually have 9 TOs and still get a pass, because he's carrying this team and back court/team and is much MUCH more consistent than the other highly touted FA signing. I was excited as anyone when we get "Linsanity", but Linsanity has been anything but here. Stating the obvious is "not hating", it's just stating the obvious. The guy hasn't lived up to his news clippings, while Harden (even with a sub par game) has exceeded his.. so has Asik. McHale has basically given every player on this team a green light, but tells Lin to be conservitive, I wonder why? This off season Lin better work on developing a consistent jump shot or Houston is going nowhere with him, defenses don't have to respect his J right now.
Don't take it too hard, get to work on the important things in your life and get that paper done. The Rockets will find a way to get back on the W side of things.
