So do you believe that his natural reaction would be to get worked up over it, and that he suppresses that due to the fact that he would be considered a bad employee/teammate if he did not?

I thoroughly believe he is sincere in what he says and the way he handles it. I don't think he feels entitled to anything, and is willing to take the criticism and work to get better - which is entirely admirable coming from a contemporary sports athlete.

I just think that he leads by example and that some of his most loyal fans don't follow that example. I didn't make an ultimatum or say anyone had to be quiet, I just don't get why people not named Jeremy Lin get worked up while he maintains a calm, positive attitude himself.

What if Lin was one of us?
Just a newb like one of us?
Just a starter on the bench?
Trying to make his way to the 4th.

Yeah, you win! You totally addressed my points! Way to go! Internet dollars coming your way for dragging out a protracted (and originally sardonic, although that went waaay over your head) conversation.

wow, change topic when you have nothing to counter argue my post. What's next, name calling? So typical of you type.

From all the above posts that I made to explain the whole "quota" situation (even the original poster from whom I quoted already admitted and even replied to you herself!) what's there for you to not understand? I now do believe you have reading comprehension problem.

I'm done with you. What can I say when you clearly have reading comprehension problem?

Jason Friedman explained the other parts of the interview that were left out of the quote. Also there is no tone of voice to give insight as to McHale's usual dry sense of humor. Remember his quotes early in the Summer about Chandler? If you didn't hear his sarcastic tone of voice, it would look like a serious knock on Chandlers character... but that's just what the media does. Twists things to take them out of context to create controversy, and useless threads on fan sites like Clutchfans, and gives talking heads like Stephen A something to flap their gums about.

Given the CONTEXT of the rest of the interview(unless you dont trust Friedman) I think its safe to say that Yes.... this is getting blown way out of proportion, and there is no reason to even continue to argue about this.

    -Does McHale like Lin.... Yes
-Does Lin need to improve.... Yes
-Will Lin continue to be a building block for this team moving fwd-Yes
-Does this interview in any way hurt Jeremy Lin's feelings.... No(publicly states that he likes working with McHale, and that he's "Tough but fair" etc.)
    -Is this comment racist.... No
-Does this interview affect whether the Rockets win or lose moving fwd... No

-Are fans on here overly sensative..... Yes

So what's the problem?... where is the argument?

Every thing you write is wrought with spelling/grammar errors, and you clearly didn't comprehend that my asking you for bath salts was me being cynical and mocking you.

And it's not the "quota" situation... It would be, if anything, the "quote" situation. I am guessing you're not a native English speaker, so I won't grill you on it or go in to nuances, but don't go ad hominem on people for "reading comprehension problem" (sic) when you are failing every single aspect of it yourself.

    Have a good 'un.

So Mchale doesn't like Lin. That's pretty obvious. He didn't like him the first time around. Don't like him now, and proably won't like him ever.

Harden goes 3 for 16, and stills plays a full game. Lin does the same and doesn't see the 4th quarter.

Like I said earlier, Mchale likes to destroy players confidence.

Can't compare a superstar with a role player. Superstars have the ability to get coaches fired i.e Melo, Deron Williams, Dwight Howard.

LMAO at people trying to do linguistic analysis on what Mchale said. It's not comp lit, y'all. There's no "interpretation" involved. Mchale basically said that Lin would sometimes rather get his points despite racking up a ton of turnovers and at the expense of the team winning.

It's not advanced-level English. He clearly said that Lin sometimes tends to be selfish and care about his stats rather than the team. We got some delusional-@ss people trying to spin things, LOL.

So LMAO at people trying to do analysis on the quote... and yet, you proceed to do analysis on the quote (what "McHale basically said")?

    Not sure if serious.

Wow, your arrogance makes me just have to reply one more time to your nonsense.

Just because English is your native language doesn't mean you don't have reading and comprehension problem. Just because English is not my first language and I have spelling/grammar errors doesn't mean I didn't make it perfect clear what that "quote" came from. It is you who just refuses to admit you got it all wrong, despite the original poster from whom I quoted replied to you herself. Have you ever addressed her admitting reply post to you ? Noooo, of course, you pretend the original poster's reply didn't exist. That would make you embarrassed even more, right?

No matter how you try to spin your previous posts on that, below are your own words and the original poster's own self-admitted reply.

Deal with it. You blatantly and wrongly attacked me before you even read all the related comments to know what's going on and making yourself a fool and now you have no way to backtrack so you are picking me on my language skills.

I addressed every point in your posts. I even addressed your ridiculous mumbling about how you are not happy about Lin fans. It is you who have the arrogance to accuse and attack the Lin fans without reading enough comments and any evidence.

The suggestion to you still is: Read more before you post if you don't want get embarrassed later, mister.

I thought about Parsons but the in the original joke Smith's role was played by Vin Baker. I felt like Parsons was too good to compare to Vin. :)

Nice! This is kind of sad...but we all should know this all along. You don't say this to your max player in Harden, but target the other "role" players. This just proves that coaches are humans and have their preference in players...that's all.

So is a coach unfair if he was harsher towards a rookie than towards a veteran?
