Ow man, that's a great one. I was actually thinking of Clyde trying to talk real German which sets off an entire bad sequence. It would go something like this: Clyde: "Ah here comes Herr Owlbrecht, ladies and gentleman" Bull: [annoying scraped voice] Fraulein and Herren... Bill starts laughing, gets in on the act and Clyde tries to make it serious again. Clyde: "Cut it out you guys..you know germans are known for being tall and they have some talent. We have Dirk, Kaman,, uuhhh, uuhhh, heheh.....Heidi Klum [awkward pause].... Bill: ...well.... uhhh..i believe that's it Clyde. Bull: [mumbles] "she definitely had some talent hahaha" Clyde: He he he [forgot what they were saying] ...you know Einstein was from Germany, he was kinda clever too guys. Karl Marx, oh my, what you know about that Bill - hehehe? Bill: *sighs*... Clyde then refuses to let it go and gloat for the next 5 minutes whenever the camera is on him. He wasn't successful in the German League because he's not a good player. He's a very mobile guy for his size, nice athletic ability, and some good skills. But he's simply a guy that never does much of anything when he's in an actual game. He's always been his whole career nothing but a big body with talent. He's never been an actual player.
Look up his stats. And understand that was in mediocre clubs. Actually, he got a chance in a better club once and was sent down to lower level German leagues after he could not stay in the club. Just last season he played in the Eurocup if you want to understand how good he was. That's the league Beverley came from. It's the league that is below the Euroleague in level. To put it in perspective how this league compares to Euroleague's level......... You have to win the championship in Eurocup to get the boost to Euroleague the next year. Or look at it this way......Dontaye Draper was the MVP of the Eurocup. After that. he got a contract with a Euroleague team for this year. And that is known for a long time. However, that's all he's been. He's never been a good player before in his career at any level. Usually, he's not even been average. You have to understand that D-League is much, much, much lower level than even the crappy German League. Ohlbrecht is a talented guy and certainly has NBA level in talent. But, without any doubt, he's never been a good player anywhere so far in his carer. Making all star games in German League is a fan voted popularity contest. Means nothing. They also have actual all German League teams that are not fan voted and are actually based on play and not fan popularity. He never made those teams. Not the first team, and not the second team either. He was on the German national team not because he was a good player, but because he was a young guy with talent, that they needed to develop for their future. Simple as that. So, the Rockets signed a young big with good talent and possibilities......but not a guy that has actually ever played well.
D-League is a huge step down in the level of competition he was used to playing at in Germany. If anything, he should have had much bigger numbers in D-League than he did. A professional player that is at average Eurocup (league below Euroelague) level should be able to destroy the D-League level. Most such Eurocup players did or do completely destroy D-League if they play in it. Or another way to look at it is, D-League MVPs have failed to even make the rosters of Eurocup clubs, or have made the rosters, been a 3rd stringer, then got quickly cut. The level of D-League is just way, way, way lower than what Ohlbrecht was used to. So of course he will put up good numbers in D-League.
He looked just as lost as TRob last night but Robinson has an excuse. I just don't see the activity and fire in Smith anymore.
