    Does he have to if Motiejunas fills that void?

    It's so ridiculous how determined folks are to not like Robinson before watching him play.

    Just sit back and enjoy the team. Good lord.

    Agree 100%. I am one of those who is still skeptical about Thomas Robinson's ability to be a high-level NBA player. But I'm sure as hell going to root for him to become one; and I'll enjoy watching him work towards that goal.

    Heck ya.

    -Also its not like the Rockets went out and A. Used their own #5 pick on him(THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO TANK TO GET) B. Signed him to a max contract to be the #2 star and its not like they ....C. Can't just.... well trade him this Summer if it doesn't work out.

    People wanted to dump Patterson and Morris for nothing earlier on in the year anyways. You got the #5 pick IN THIS YEARS draft for pretty much nothing, and still people find something to complain about.... he's "only" 6'8"... big woopie.

    Plus they actually did get a pretty good pick for Morris regardless of belief its actually a better pick than a late 1st rounder IMO.

    Stupid question: why was Douglas in this trade?

    I can see why the Kings might want Cole, but they've got plenty of point guards while the Rockets need Toney for some depth.

    TD was sent there to rot...plain and simple. Feel for the guys as I doubt he's going to see any action with that team.

    I actually was doing a bunch of research on this today, to see how T-Rob measured up to other power forwards. Here's the data (listed in order of height):

    Fard == 6' 06.00" barefoot ----- 7' 00.00" wingspan ----- 9' 00.00" SR ----- 30.0/35.0 Vert -- 225
    JSmth = 6' 07.00" barefoot ----- 7' 00.00" wingspan ----- 8' 10.50" SR ----- 32.5/39.5 Vert -- 225
    Evans = 6' 07.50" barefoot ----- 7' 02.50" wingspan ----- 8' 11.50" SR ----- 26.0/29.5 Vert -- 245
    JGrn == 6' 07.75" barefoot ----- 7' 01.25" wingspan ----- 8' 07.00" SR ----- 33.5/38.0 Vert -- 235
    Haslm = 6' 07.75" barefoot? ---- 6' 11.00" wingspan ----- 8' 11.00" SR ----- 28.5/33.5 Vert -- 235
    T-ROB = 6' 07.75" barefoot ----- 7' 03.00" wingspan ----- 8' 10.00" SR ----- 28.5/35.5 Vert -- 240
    Lee === 6' 07.75" barefoot ----- 7' 00.00" wingspan ----- 8' 10.50" SR ----- 30.5/32.5 Vert -- 250
    ZachR = 6' 08.00" barefoot? ---- _______ wingspan ----- _______ SR ----- _________ Vert -- 260?
    KHump = 6' 08.25" barefoot ----- 7' 00.50" wingspan ----- 8' 10.50" SR ----- 29.5/36.0 Vert -- 236
    DWest = 6' 08.25" barefoot ----- 7' 04.25" wingspan ----- 9' 00.50" SR ----- 28.5/31.5 Vert -- 240
    Grif === 6' 08.50" barefoot ----- 6' 11.25" wingspan ----- 8' 09.00" SR ----- 32.0/35.5 Vert -- 252
    Horfd = 6' 08.75" barefoot ----- 7' 00.75" wingspan ----- 8' 11.00" SR ----- 31.0/35.5 Vert -- 250
    Ibak == 6' 09.00" barefoot? ---- _______ wingspan ----- _______ SR ----- _________ Vert -- 236+
    Bosh == 6' 10.25" barefoot ----- 7' 03.50" wingspan ----- 9' 01.00" SR ----- 30.5/33.0 Vert -- 235

    Fard = Kenneth Faried, Denver
    JSmth = Josh Smith, Atlanta
    Evans = Reggie Evans, Brooklyn
    JGrn = Jeff Green, Boston
    Haslm = Udonis Haslem, Miami
    T-ROB = Thomas Robinson, Houston
    Lee = David Lee, Golden State
    Zach R = Zach Randolph, Memphis (no extended data available)
    KHump = Kris Humphries, Brooklyn
    DWest = David West, Indiana
    Grif = Blake Griffin, LA Clippers
    Horfd = Al Horford, Atlanta
    Ibak = Serge Ibaka, Oklahoma City (no extended data available)
    Bosh = Chris Bosh, Miami

    Basically, T-Rob is the size of David Lee with a slightly larger wingspan and slightly smaller standing reach. Lee is big enough to play PF, so good.

    I still do wish T-Rob was 1-2" taller, but he should be fine. There has been talk of him converting to SF in the future. I could see that, if he can adjust his skill set.

    Most likely will be bought out here in the next few weeks. I assume a contender will pick him up in a heartbeat. OKC would have been a good landing spot it they didn't have some wierd fetish with Derrick Fisher.

    TD's actually had a very good season up until February. I anticipate a buyout and sign with another team.

    Uglas was probably there to make the trade look less lopsided. It looks like they got one more player back, but they don't have to pay a single dime because NYK is paying Uglas' salary this year. It's like a freeby tryout for SAC. They don't even have to buy him out if they need the roster spot. They can just waive him since NYK is paying his salary anyway. Haha.

    It's not a stupid question. The Kings have plenty of PGs already, and the Rockets had the cap room available to simply absorb the 3 incoming Kings players while waiving Douglas (or another player) to make room for them.

    The answer is probably that the Rockets just worked their magic to have the Kings take him back. Morey/Hinkie/whoever probably told the Kings that the money they were saving in the deal was enough and that the Rockets wouldn't do that deal if they had to eat Douglas's salary by waiving him. (I'm wondering if part of the trade-off was that Honeycutt was added to the deal, or if the Rockets had a legitimate interest in Tyler - who I actually liked coming out of UCLA but who I haven't followed as a pro.)

    I also think the Rockets wanted to keep that approximately $5 million or so in cap room open on the day of the trade deadline in order to pull off a "Rip Hamilton plus a pick for nothing" deal with Chicago; but the Bulls just refused to part with a pick (of any significance), causing such a deal to die.

    Just guessing on my part. But it was NOT a stupid question.

    The Knicks are NOT paying Toney Douglas's salary. That is against the CBA.

    The Knicks DID throw in $2 million cash to the Camby S&T. That amount comes out to almost what Douglas makes this year. But that was straight cash money, not a player's salary.

    The Kings have to eat Douglas's remaining salary. Not that he's a bad player or anything.

    Likewise, we threw in a million to Sacramento, which basically covers the dollar costs of the remainder of his contract.

    I think your theory is right, regarding keeping a bit more space open to do another deal. Unfortunately, it looks like that one may have backfired a little bit - we lost a somewhat ok 2nd/3rd string PG, and probably more importantly, we dipped into the amount of cash we can use to buy additional picks...

    Don't forget. We can still take RIP off Chicago's hands on the waiver wire and HELP them get under the luxury tax line. ;)

    Aha.

    Over at SAC some of the fans are actually very sad to lose Honeycutt to this trade, but he really hadn't had much of a career to follow and I have been watching most of the SAC games since the Landry days. It would be interesting to see if it turns out Morey had a genuine interest in the kid.

    Is TRobs defense good enough or can he turn into that defensive stopper that rebounds?
