So I got a job offer and I accepted. Leaves my old job 2 weeks to find someone. Thing is, I didn't notify him till i got it. He didnt sound so good and said i couldve warned him. I was looking for another job for various obvious reasons. My old job: We got a new CEO and we were already on a 90 day notice of closing down, supposedly. He layed off many people without any notice. I went two weeks without a schedule till things went awry and they needed me again. I took unnecessary pay cut. New job: Less pay but full-time, I can stop waking up at 3 am unloading trailers. I can still work some at my other job, hopefully. Nice incentives and benefits. More experience Better opportunity I know everybody that's why I got the job. Over 50 applications sent elsewhere, just one phone call here. Thanks Rodney. Did I do wrong? I feel bad that I'm leaving my old hospital job (4months) and UPS (9yrs) behind.
Doesn't sound like you did anything wrong. It would be stupid to give a notice before you actually got hired (what if you didn't get the job?), and two weeks is pretty standard.
You did absolutely nothing wrong. Unless you can completely trust your current employer not to do anything rash, you don't tell them anything about searching for a new job until you have an offer in hand. And, you gave then 2 weeks notice. You might have hurt his feelings but you did nothing wrong.
I just got a new job, but Im close with my boss and mentioned that I was applying for it. Got it gave him 2 weeks, and he is still trying to keep me... Wants me to work mornings at the new place and nights at old place... no way man...
Haha. If they had given me the full time position in the first place. They went behind my back and hired my classmate that I hated the most for the full time position. He says he doesn't want to burn me out if I work there, yet he has some other cats that hardly want to work.

I don't think you did anything wrong. My firm hates it when people leave and they get upset, but these are the same people who had layoffs a week or two before christmas when I first got hired on. If you had a really good relationship and thought they'd never get rid of you and you were one fo the most important people at your job, then I might give them a heads up. You don't always have to say you're leaving, but you can tell them you're not happy with your situation and see if it would change. If that doesn't work, 2 weeks is all you need to do. No need to go tell them every time you interview.

Unprofessional of your boss/manager to complain about not giving him a heads up. Business etiquette allows 2 week notice to former job when a new job is to begin. I am sure the new job expects you to start around 2 weeks from when they told you about the hiring. You did fine. I gave a 2 weeks notice to my old job and everything seems just fine.

Yeah you're good. I'm interviewing for a job tomorrow and my employer has no idea. I am 90% sure I won't take the job unless they nearly double the pay, but I kinda enjoy going on interviews, especially when I've got nothing to lose.
