the Bulls were 33-49 and an 11th seed before they won the chance to draft Rose, who as R.O.Y. catapulted them to the 7th seed with a 41-41 record the following year...
I think what he was trying to say was the Bulls had better players when Rose came into the league vs. Kyrie who didn't really have much. Though, to be fair, the Bulls aren't much without Rose. Today's pretty much a prime example, they lost to Kyrie's Cavs without Kyrie at home. Defense and rebounding can only get you so far, you need offense to win in this league. I'd say they're a bottom 5 team in the east when it comes to offensive talent. I haven't watched them play much this year, but all the national tv games I've seen including the one against the Rockets, they don't have much offense at all. They play hard and they rebound which is probably the reason they've gotten wins, but as you can see from last year's playoff series against the #8 Sixers, it's pretty clear they are nothing without Rose.
Kyrie is on pace to be the greatest pure PG. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/3FtoqOdy5ls" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> That's against one of the better defenders in westbrook. Nuff Said.
I would hate that argument too, if it were intended to suggest that Rose is better than Kyrie because the Bulls have been to the playoffs and the Cavs haven't. Not what I'm getting at. I'm high on Kyrie, no doubt, and he may ultimately have the better career than Rose. However, it's WAY premature to anoint him to MVP level status before the dude has played a single playoff game. Success in the playoffs is what defines greatness. Rose is a leader who has led his team deep into the playoffs. Kyrie is yet to do that. Them's the facts and everything else is speculation at this point.
I think what he was trying to say, is that the Bulls didn't have better players when Rose was drafted.
Regardless of who was drafted to a better team, the Bulls management will be better at keeping them competitive than the Cavs. Therefore, Rose will get more attention and MVP consideration. The Cavs are stuck in a black hole known as Cleveland. Unless Kyrie leaves, he'll stay under the radar.
Wow, you guys start the hype quickly. It's either MVP or bust. Just let the young players grow, because there are simply too many unknowns. I don't want to see another Bynum or Oden, who were quickly considered the next best thing after showing some flashes. Is Rose going to be 100% again? Probably not. But what he had achieved before ACL was pretty impressive for a young player. Let's not compare them before Irving does something meaningful for his team. If you want to focus on talent, how about Lillard? Remember this IS his rookie season. And talent wise, none of them will ever surpass TMac. BTW, Irving is from Duke, right? When has Duke ever offered a player worth MVP consideration?
Pure pg? All he can do is score though? They should play him like the Sixers used A.I. and draft a big pg who can guard the 2's on D because Kyrie as pg won't lead that team anywhere. He makes no one but himself better. SG in pg's body. Though i think he can be a better and efficient scorer than Iverson who was just a high volume, inefficient scorer. Kryie is a beast, but a pure pg he is not. If Rose can return the same as he was, i take him. But, who knows if he will? Lets hope he does make a full return! Loved this kid since the very first time i saw this video and knew he was going to be a superstar one day. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/w6G_RRGHzfA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Kyrie's leaves his teammates wide open too often. Too selfish at this stage. He still has a lot to learn. Coach Pop would yell at him like no tomorrow if he was on the Spurs.
Thanks Bill Simmons. How can the greatest pure PG ever be averaging less that 6 assists per game for his career. John Stockton is a better 'pure' PG than Irving will be.

As soon as I dissed on Duke, I knew someone would bring up Grant Hill. Yes, I like him, a lot. Part of the reason TMac went to Orlando was Hill. But he went down for too long. Yes, he was great. Now we can stop the greatest talking about a kid not named LeBron, before he does something truly great.
One of these days, and it will take some time, but rest assured... one of these days LeBron will be lucky enough to climb all the way up to Kyrie Irving's level as a basketball player and godly figure. As long as LeBron works hard enough, I'm confident he can reach Kyrie status. CP3/Tony Parker/Derrick Rose, on the other hand, have no chance. They just aren't good enough players, especially at the PG position.
This kyrie Irving dick riding is getting ridiculous. I can't wait until rose comes backs and shows some of you jackasses why he was a MVP.
kyrie is very special player. he can shoot it lights out and he is also good at attacking the basket. for me irving is >>>> than d rose.
