Bynum would be a fantastic half court player if your willing to drop the ball down to him but I'm not sure if he is great at PnRs or the transition game. Having said that, we will need a good half court player when we are in the play offs. I'm not sure where I would stand on this.

I do know that I think his sources were nothing more than voices in his head.

Bynum's spent most of his career in the triangle with Pau on the weakside post cannibalizing his stats. Asik got his 10-11 with the 1-4 spaced out beyond the 3 line,

Transition game is pretty bad and he also sets the offensive tempo when he's on the floor. Bynum being unable to catch up is what caused Mike Brown to tell Sessions to slow down last year, eventually turning him into a Fisher type point guard. He's not the best passer either so I saw a lot of steals on account of him getting tripled and trying to pass back out

If you're gonna run, which your squad is built for, you're better off with Dwight, but even he has problems. There are no elite 5's beyond these two guys and if you're not using their post-up game as the primary scoring option, you're honestly better off with Asik.

That's crazy. josh smith does not make us title contenders. I believe that's the whole point of putting a team together. Dwight gives us more of a shot and worth the gamble. Smith may be a safe choice, but I don't want to throw money out for the sake of using cap space.

First of all, Josh Smith is not a winning player. He's not going to make us a contender. If you believe he will, then all I can say is stop.

Second of all, the playoffs are a completely different animal. Offensively, you need a multidimensional half-court attack that contains guys who can get easy buckets, knock down threes and create offense for themselves. We don't have anyone who gets easy buckets, and Bynum is amongst the best in the league in that category. Him + Harden would be a terror in the half-court.

Defensively, you need an anchor, and as great as Asik has been on the glass and at being in position, Bynum is more of an interior presence in terms of taking up space and blocking shots (and intimidating opponents).

Really, the only concern is his health. It's a huge concern, yes, but as a whole, it's definitely worth weighing out.

***Also, I don't see how he's a "douche". He's committed some cheapshots, and he's not the most mature guy, but a douche? Two of our other "targets", Dwight and Love are far more douchey, in my opinion. Bynum's personality actually cracks me up. He's an individual, if nothing else.

I think getting Bynum would be great. I'm a big fan of this acquisition. His value is as low as ever, and we can win it all if we get Bynum.

This guy just dominates. Kobe was never keen on passing him the ball, and he never got to show off his true brilliance.

I'm okay with offering him a max deal. Remember he is only 25 and he will beast. There is no better time to get him than now. If he was healthy right now, the competition for getting him would be so great if would be hard to land him. Playing with Kobe is bad for any big man.

Motiejunas and Terrence Jones can man the PF. We can sign Millsap for rest of the capspace.

    No thanks

His value is as low as ever - he is made of glass & is child like
This guy just dominates - when he plays & wants to
Playing with Kobe - he took games / plays off - Kobe is not in to that
The capspace - a lot of cap space tied up into a sometimes player

I am happier with what we already have. The future is bright

The injuries and his questionable motor scare the crap out of me. Really hope the Rockets don't offer him a max deal.

He'll be looking for the max and I bet he will either get it or something very close. Hopefully it's not in Houston.

Sounds like you just described Howard....

I think Bynum has the best skill set of all the centers in the NBA. But those knees I would fear.. He may never be 100 percent healthy.

Bur I'm good with giving him a one year deal and see how it goes. Heck Morey could even get him on a one year contract and trade him by the trade deadline to Minnesota for Love or whatever.

The Stromile Swift of centers. Note to self: Lakers suck and so do their current/recent players. NO Bynum, Howard or Gasol, please.

We just got out of the Yao Ming situation. Why would just throw ourselves back into a similar ordeal?

    Agreed.

There is every red flag with Bynum possible to imagine.

I am watching Doug Collins and what it shows is what can happen to a team when you trade guys that help you and get someone in return who doesn't or cant.

This would be the same dice the Rockets would be rolling, except that as a FA, it would be our cap space that would be gone, not players. But it amounts to the same thing if you get Bynum, he cant play, and you then consider who you could have gotten who would be helping, who could be playing.

Its a potential black hole any way you look at it. Sure, he could change his attitude, his character, his way of doing things. He could squeeze in a couple good years before his knee damage becomes career ending. But seriously, the down side potential out ways the upside here.

So what's wrong with Asik? We're giving up on guy who is a rebounding machine, good defender, improving on offense, with no attitude problems and not a bad sidekick to Harden. For a guy who plays with one leg, with attitude problems? Come on, Morey...
