You have a superstar in harden, there's only 1 ball, what do you think he should do? Dominate the ball more then Harden? But it's not even that, the team plays good offense and we have one of the best offense in the game. Maybe Mchale wants Lin to just make some smarter passes/passes when he does penetrate or have the ball? I'm a fan of Lin but there are times where I'm wondering what Lin is doing.

What Mchale said wasn't about his jumpshot, it's about his turnovers. And like I said Popovich publicly criticized Parker during his early years, and Parker has attributed that hard coaching to his success.

 

R2K, that's great advice, and I'm glad you pointed that out not only to him, but to everyone else who has slogged through this thread, but at what point does too much become too much? This cat has over 160 posts in this thread, more than 3 times as many as anyone else. After apparently lurking for a few years he has, with all respect due, gone absolutely nuts. Several members (including me, twice, the first time when he reached 50 a long time ago, post-wise) have said something to him about it, with no effect whatsoever.

 

Agree with you, Lin is just not ready to do what he did during Linsanity on a consistent basis or in any meaningful number of games. Thats the reality. He is also not and will never be as good as Harden in taking over games. That said, Lin is definitely not a spot up shooter, he should be used more frequently in PnR type plays which the coaching staff it seems is just not willing to do.

Anyway, no one (or at least me) is saying McHale should not criticize Lin, just not in the way he did especially publicly. He can say whatever he wants in private.

 

Even though people who disagrees with me wouldn't think so, I am debating. But all you did in this thread is call me names. 3 times as many post? because I am involved in the conversation. I actually got more +rep here than anywhere else, so to say I am trolling is not right, maybe only to people who I am disagreeing with.

 

LOL this thread has been a bad joke for a long time now. The quote was explained thoroughly many many times over yet the Lin fans still feign outrage. It's time that Rockets fans realize that Lin fans are lost causes completely immune to logic and simply ignore them. Pretend they don't exist and stupid threads like this won't ever get to 60 pages.

We don't need McHalish to english translators here telling us what he really meant. You guys who are still going round and round about what McHale could have meant, is whats derailing this thread. Look McHale is an adult, he used the word Lin would "rather", lets give him the benefit of the doubt that he meant what he said. If he comes out and says he misspoke, then I will drop this. In the meantime, don't speak for a 60 year old HOF'er.

I'm fine with McHale bashing players but if he's going to do it, he has to consistent. He can't just be bashing certain players (Lin, 2Pat, Morris for example) but not give the same treatment to Harden or Asik.

 

Ok lets see what makes up a rockets forum: Information about the rockets. Last I checked lin and mchale were part of the rockets.

 

Everyone's entitled to his opinions and feelings. I agree with a lot of what you just said about Lin's game. The unique thing about this particular thread is that your number of 160 posts is a measure of your feeling on this particular issue. The intensity of your feeling goes far beyond most posters' feeling on this issue.

 

I dont even think he needs to be an equal opportunity basher, coach can be tough on anyone they choose. My only beef is you just don't say what he did about Lin, end of story. Unless he misspoke the word "rather" it really is a damning quote regardless of the context.

 

I am the first to be admit you are right but I am not going around cussing everyone out. I am still trying to make points grounded on at least some facts or quotes. The only name calling I have done here is McFail.

 

If you really think this thread from the very start was about the Rockets team.. ok, to each their own. It has always been about Lin fans upset about this clearly insulting quote (at least to me) and non Lin fans defending and explaining away McHale. Nothing more nothing less.

 

Arent you doing the exact same thing? Youre also trying to be a "mchalish to english translator". Youre not mchale, you dont know what he meant or if it was badly quoted by the source. No it isnt clear so dont tell me "its clear what he is doing! He is clearly calling him selfish"

So just give it a rest and go back to hiding, or contribute to other threads.

 

No, you are not, you are disregarding everything except for the interpretation you prefer. You have been shown the context of the comments numerous times that shows it wasn't "McHale hates Lin" and you have been shown similar comments by McHale showing that McHale simply prefers Lin to play a different style of basketball than comes naturally to him, he also said that it was completely normal for young players to play that style. This has all been explained to you over and over again and you keep going back to the "McHale hates Lin" card. Just give it up.

 

I can assure you right now, if I went to a Lin thread and wrote 2 paragraphs of praises to Lin, I would be showered with rep.

 

and I guarantee you will be hated on by 10 other pre 2012'ers like Deckerd. Sure.

 

I've always known this but I may explore this avenue since it promises...some nice returns.
