Because he's trying to prove he was right in agreeing to let Lin go unlike Morey who admitted he was wrong.
So you think Morey just lets players go without even talking to the head coach? Wow what an organization that would be.
Morey: We're going to release Lin. Between Lowry and Dragic, there's just no minutes for him. McHale: You're right, he's not going to play. Wish him the best of luck. I guess you're right. That's a reasonable scenario for pursuing a yearlong vendetta against your starting PG for 2013.
Wow... Blame Mchale... So it's not Lins fault he got 9 TOs? It's Mchale eh?... The team got lucky AF against OKC regardless of what both Harden and Lin did... Everything went for us and I'm not complaining... Those TOs are crucial but it's not that Lin has problems with TOs but the coaches fault that Lin has TOs? Oh okay.
Um, I don't think Lin has ever had 9 TOs in a game. It was a rhetorical device McHale was using. In OKC Lin had 2 or 3, can't remember which. In a best of 7 against OKC, I think we could take one, so not entirely luck. There was some skill involved too.
Just looked it up he had 3 in 42 minutes and had 8 assists. Overall a great game but got no love from his head coach only criticism.
Competing? The system they have is about sharing, getting it to the first open guy. Only guy allowed to do his own thing at times is Harden. Lin has been given a lot of chances to create his own shot when his passing options have been cut off. This season, he hasn't been able to finish some of his driving plays, sometimes looking bad. Like LeBron who has said he has learned to make better choices (thus the ridiculous fg%), Lin needs to do the same thing. He absolutely can, but many of his fans want his best now.
Every interview I've heard with either Morey or McHale seems to indicate that Morey picks the guys and McHale coaches them. McHale certainly seemed suprised to lose 4 guys from his starting rotation in the most recent instance. I think McHale thought Jeremy Lin had a long way to go earlier in the season, and as a player in the game he treated him that way. We have all seen a significant improvement in Lin over the course of the year... and I assume McHale is seeing it too. Not going to say that McHale is incompetent, but if you think he is then there is a saying that might apply. "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence."
9 was an over exaggeration. 7 is his season high. Had that about 3 to 4 times or close. Every game at least 2 or more and most are 3. Nevertheless, the point is that you people would blame those TOs of Lin to be Mchale fault.
You're approaching epic status for fans that followed Lin to this board. In other words, you're the Kyrie Irving of dips!&#+s.
you're right. Team chemistry would be destroyed by a 20 yr old PG shooting 47/42/86 with the best handle in the league. Harden would hate Irving drawing more double teams than Lin and getting him easy, open looks. Parsons would hate it when Irving hits open looks off of a secondary break. Harden would hate getting to share the load with an efficient lead guard. Chemistry can lead to wins and winning can lead to chemistry. Read up on Jordans Bulls.
Dude can't play defense. And seriously, you must not play a lot of basketball or even played organized basketball. It's extremely hard to get into rhythm if you have to play off the ball (probably for the first time EVER for Kyrie). It's pretty much learning an entirely new skillset. This is the exact problem that Lin has. Also, with Kyrie's usage, I would hope for more assists. He isn't a pure point, but a scoring point. Won't work in this offense. A point that would work is someone of the Derek Fisher capacity. Also much cheaper.
