a ball stopping one trick pony. i didn't say he wasn't good at it.

that man's a specialist. We don't need a specialist. no matter how good he is at it.

That's the point I keep making.

Smith, Dmo, and Trob are all PF's who can't play center. If we sign Josh Smith, he'll play around 35 mpg.

That leaves 13 total minutes for Dmo/Trob. That's not nearly enough time to develop them.

    Do you understand?

A specialist whose specialty is putting the ball in the basket. Yeah...we'd have no use for that on a basketball team.

Not worth the max. Will not make us a championship contender.

Millsap has taken about what a hundred and fifty threes in his career? Less than 0.2 per game. He has no 3 point range.

All players want the max, it inflates their egos, and validates that someone appreciates them.

Josh Smith is going to have to decide whether he wants to take less and contend for a title, or take ALL and be on a crappy team for the rest of his prime years.

Houston plays small ball, there's enough minutes to go around.

we already have 3 positions that are 3 happy, we need someone within the 15 foot and inside range, especially since Asik can only play 1 foot from the basket.

i don't see super stars clamoring to play in houston.

if you can get him without giving the max, do it.

    If not, go for Milsapp.

No there's not. You're forgetting that we traded Patterson and Morris to free up minutes for Dmo (and to a lesser extent, Trob).

He is an abysmal offensive player. That loves taking long jumpers even though he sucks at shooting them. Also loves taking 3s even though he is a mediocre 3 point shooter. His defense does not make up for it. To be frank he isn't even close to worth the max. Also he has never played on a fast team in his life.

Definitely not worth the risk. High risk, medium reward.

The numbers i listed weren't even max numbers. Smith taking $14-16MM a year is him taking a pay cut.

For the rest of the season, they will have their opportunity, but you're delusional if you think Morey is going to sit on his hands this summer if there's a surefire good PF available.

i think he is athletic enough to play in an uptempo system. He is a high flyer.

Josh Smith has never played with a good pick and roll player, Jeremy and Harden would set Josh up for wide open looks, and we all know that Josh is one of the best finishers in the game. The good thing about Josh is that he doesn't need the ball in his hands to be effective. On this team, his skill set would only enrich what they already have going.

I just see Smith getting us stuck in years of upper mediocrity. We would probably make the playoffs each year but never all the way. He is good and I like him but if we were only able to get one more max player then no way.
