It isn't just a matter of whether it was said. Also it is the context of the entire statement of McHale. You have not heard the entire statement/interview. Indeed the only person on here that has is Jason Friedman and he said that McHale was praising Lin on his improvement.

I know, it does not matter to you, you have an agenda and it is to martyr Jeremy Lin...... go ahead, but know to all non-LOF's you look foolish.

    Fair enough..... repped.

I don't know if McHale would choose Lin as his point guard, no way to know. However I do not think that he has a personal axe to grind with him. Both Lin and McHale want to win and Lin is getting the 2-3rd most minutes on the team, so McHale must at a minimum somewhat like his play.

    Time will tell.

Even though I don't like McHale very much I find it hard to believe he would ever stoop so low to as to publicly accuse his PG of being selfish, but then I realize the source is the NY Daily news. So I would take it with a grain of salt until it is confirmed by a more credible source.

It would be truly bizarre because when Lin scored 29 points on OKC the team actually won so what the hell is he talking about when he says 'we are trying to win games?' It makes no sense. It makes sense only if the rockets lost that game but they did not they won. and Lin's TO's were also very low in that game. the NY Daily News is a stupid tabloid. nothing about McHale's alleged comment makes sense so I would be inclined to disbelieve it at this point until it can be verified from a credible source.

It seems like Jason Friedman has tweeted the actual context. It's much more reliable than NYD. Case closed, thread should be locked.

    Move on. Thank you.

While we are here talking about the ridiculous complaints of Lin fans, let's dispel the notion that his usage% is too low. I have heard it over and over again, but those who complain about it must not realize that it is in line with most NBA PG's, here take a look.
    Lin 20%
    CP3 22.1%
    Rajon Rondo 21.7
    Greivis Vasquez 23%
    Steve Nash 16.5%
    Mike Conley 19.8%
    Ricky Rubio 19.2%
    Goran Dragic 21.6%

Hopefully the lesson will be learned and we won't have to hear this BS again.

Funny how you failed to realize the context in which it was brought up....

sure that McHale hates Lin to the point he doesnt want to play him at all, but cmon he has no choice. Come back with those numbers if another competent PG was on this team.

Of course fans can still attack Jason's character though.

The only ones attacking others character are McHale's apologists calling Filip Bondy a liar and making stuff up. We are only mad at McHale's comments.

Well yeah that's the ignorant BS that a Lin fan would say which is why I pointed out that his usage rate is right there with several PG's in the NBA, several of which are better than Lin.

Regarding the bold, not really. From what we've see of Lin, he doesn't get caught up in getting himself going. If anything, he needs to do a better job of that. I've seen a lot of members (old and new) complain that Lin needed to be more aggressive (in regards to scoring/taking the ball to the hoop, not assists/getting other teammates involved), that he needed to stop taking himself out of the offense; stop being so scared to shoot the ball.

Jason Friedman didn't tweet about Lin's scoring/issues that PG's with scoring mentalities have. I haven't seen or read Mchale mention that either. Jason said Mchale wanted to see Jeremy make the safe pass instead of the high-risk, high-reward one (Mchale said this before 2nd GSW game too). I know that you included "home run type play" in your comment; I know that you touched on passing too. That I can agree with but to say that he gets caught up in getting himself going? I know that happens to scoring PG's but I don't see that with Lin.

Mchale doesn't hate Lin, he doesn't think Lin's a selfish player (it's sad that I even have to say this but if I don't, I'll get labeled and generalized as an lof) but he does need to be smarter in how he addresses things to the media.

Ay caramba! The madness never stops!

First of all, I am in no way defending that McHale quote as it is presented in that article. Sitting out there, isolated, all by itself, it just looks bad. I don’t understand the people trying to say that the statement, as it is written, is fine and coming up with all kinds of interpretations that don't actually match the words the writer put into McHale's mouth. They are spinning as much as the McHale haters are.

BUT, I don’t believe that quote was just thrown out there, isolated, all by itself….and, even if it was….Ah, it’s really not worth the time and trouble.

Those on both sides of the Lin fence are interpreting the quote as they see fit to fit their varying agendas. I don’t think anyone, without actually hearing McHale say whatever he actually said, without knowing the context, whatever, can fairly interpret what the heck he meant or was trying to say or imply. Everything, at this point, is just a guess.

But, to suggest that the Daily News is some paragon of journalism or that NY doesn’t care enough about Lin at this point for the NY tabloid sportswriters to try to stir up some *****….seriously, just shakin’ my head at that one. Obviously, you guys have no idea, just no idea, about NY and its sportswriters…just no idea….

    I’m done. xo

Well it's really the same discussion. Lin fans jump on an excuse to get bent out of shape and claim that he's being mistreated. They did it when they noted that Harden had a higher usage % than Lin, they are doing it now. Lin fans will look for ANY excuse to get upset and blame Lin's lack of "linsanity" level numbers on anyone around him. It's tiresome.

A decade from now when someone asks for evidence that the LOFs were unbearably idiotic, this is the thread that they will be linked to.
