Funny how so many people actually think Lin is letting this quote effect him negatively regardless of what mchale was implying or not implying.

    Oh please.

Do you think people here would actually be okay with McHale implying Jeremy Lin is selfish? Because that's what some of you pitchforkers seem to think.

they don't make up quotes, they spin them. What part of that do you not understand?
And people in NY don't care about the Lin/Mchale feud? What world do you live in?

Well, if Lin fans wont stand up for Lin, we surely don't expect people like you to. Simple, this type of quote has NEVER been said about a player in the NBA about anyone. EVER. Implied selfish sure, but to directly say player X would much rather get his points than take care of the ball and has to be reminded that the team is trying to win is just unprecedented.

You are one of the largest offenders of taking things out of context. You don't even know what was said, in what context and the entirety of what McHale said. You essentially jumped at BS journalism in a NY rag paper and attempted to use it to justify your pre-existing bias...

Its a critique of the way he plays the PG position, not his character. Its really that hard for you to see the difference?

Lin does get blamed quite a bit for losses. But to say that he gets the majority of it is hilarious. Guess nobody reads the "McFail" posts...

wow Lin is popular but seriously Linsanity is over. NY moved on, Lin moved on, its over. They surely dont care enough about starting up a McHale and Lin feud enough to make stuff up. Now context? I don't see ANY context which would justify those comments? Lin would rather score 29 points than protect the ball? WTF

Does Lin need anyone to stand up for him though? He's a grown man making millions to play a game. Why his fan base has taken it upon themselves to act like his mother when anything remotely non-positive is said about him is fascinating.

The way he's defending Lin, he's probably Lin's dad. If so, I don't blame him.

You are trying too hard, just because you added the word "the way he plays PG" doesnt make it right. There should be NO reference to Lin would rather get 29 points then protect the ball. There wasn't even about distributing or getting his teammates involed. That IS attacking his character and so is saying he would rather get himself going than his teammates. Non ifs and buts. Spin more

Yes they do. It sells papers.

People in NY still care about Lin after the whole Linsanity last year.

Hell quite a few posters in this thread follow the Knicks and other NY teams.

Makes no sense whatsoever, you callout any player directly in this way, his fans will defend him to. Heck a lot of Lebron fans defended him for the "decision". Does he need defending? oh moot point, stupid argument.

Of course he does! Don't you see how persecuted he is? Playing for McHale is clearly worse than Auschwitz, it's up to the Lin only fans to cry about McHale and Harden ad nauseam so that everyone sees the crimes against Linsanity that are being committed on a daily basis!

And the way you are defending and spinning for McHale, its like he is your daddy. If so, I don't blame you.

yeaaa dont think so. Whatever, why are you McHale apologists arguing hypotheticals? Its in NY daily news, not a fly by night shop. If its made up, shame on them. Anyway, before anyone even denied it, I would rather believe it was actually said than give McHale the benefit of the doubt

just stay on the topic. i am better than you coz i don't deny that the source could be BS. right now i treated it as 50/50. what you are doing is just deny, deny, and deny.

Ahhhh~ you know what I'm just gonna apologize. It was from a NY tabloid. Even if it wasn't, Lin does make dumb decisions. I should leave it at that. Obviously, McHale wouldn't think Lin was selfish (though he probably does consider him a ball stopper by nature)

It's just that as a fan of Lin's, I hate the accusation that Lin would care more about putting up his own numbers over the team winning (my initial perception). It was probably misquoted but still got me riled up as a fan who loves what Lin represents: selfless run n gun team basketball (ironically). Sigh~ you guys have to realize though that Lin gets so much hate around the league and complete disrespect as a basketball player that as a fan it's difficult to just stand by. When Magic got HIV, and people started dissing hard, I felt the same way. Anger at the ignorance. By and large, all the so called LOH on clutchfans have been quite accepting actually, save one or two, but out there in other sites, the irrational hate and disregard for Lins game is absurd. Anyways, my bad y'all. McHale's comments were clearly taken out of context even though I'm still quite certain that McHale doesn't think too highly of Lins game and IT IS hindering his game and our teams success in my opinion.
