Yes, it was based on reputation the last 8-9 years.... Kobe had an 18 month run where he was an elite defender (not the best, Christie mong others were better).

So you think the quote was taken out of context, but shame on the people who defend the quote because it was taken out of context.

Somebody needs to point out to McHale that Lin has substantially higher usage and TOs in our wins contrasted with in our losses. When Lin's usage is low, we struggle even against bad teams.

I like Jason and I watch all his videos. But considering his job and his personality, it is not surprising that he would try to make things cool cuz thats how he seems to roll. But what he described was not what went down! He's a great writer and all but he's not that good.

First of all, in regards to the comment in question, McHale didn't say Lin should pass more safely, not even close. He said that Lin tends to play aggressively looking to do his own thing at the expense of his team.
Secondly, I've heard McHale's "raving" about Lin many times before: "He's getting better! I couldn't be happier with him. (Except, of course, Lin's tendency to shoot too much for his liking and the fact that Lin loses focus on the team winning because he's busy working on getting his 29). It's not that complimentary. It's rather condescending. In fact, the very fact that McHale couldn't be happier with Lins game today belies the lack of belief in Lins game as most if us are disappointed in his results thus far cuz we expect more. McHale doesn't.
But of course, Jason can't be biased, you should've expected him to say that McHale should apologize to Lin for calling him selfish and not team oriented if that was the case. Come on now, you have better senses than to miss a clear damage control line towing the company line than that.

I still can't believe he said that in that way. So its a moot point. NY Media ftw??

Then he better act like one. Don't call out his player for being selfish point scorer over team win when he clearly is not. If he truly believes Lin is selfish, talk to him in private, don't be ****ing on him in public just because he won't retaliate and whine about it.

If you want to claim bias then you gotta look at all these folks that are posting on this thread more honestly.

If McHale had his way I think Asik would be on the perimeter shooting threes.

I didn't mean it like that and Ill edit it. Jason does a great job trying to be fair. What I meant was it is expected of him to maintain peace and to smooth this out cuz that the kind of cat he is. A fair kind dude from what I can see.

bias? Based on a quote? You are being bias against LOFs by spinning McHale's quote to make it sound better. Dude it is what it is. There is not reason to say "Lin would rather score 29 points..." if all he wanted to say is that Lin needs to improve his TO. Bias? Yes you and your blind and irrational defense against whatever Lin fans are saying.

Yes and Jonathan Feigen, Morey etc. Jason works for the Rockets, what do you expect him to say? Fan the flame even more? Duh.

It's simple, tweet Filip Blondy @filipbondy to find out the context of McHale's comments.

Because they argue it at face value and they still defend it: "there's nothing wrong with what he said" etc.
