I know I liked it when Sampson came back, but after the latest unprecendent diss on Lin by a coach, he can go fck himself.

No one is questioning a coach calling player out, but to say he is selfish for looking to pack his stats over team win? BS.

McHale is saying that Lin is selfish when in fact he is one of the most unselfish players in the league.
It seems to piss him off when Lin has a good game. I wonder why that is?? I think that McHale would almost rather lose than than let Lin have a good game. It's all about pride - McHale agreed with letting him go last year and wants to prove he is right. Morey admitted he made a mistake but McHale is too proud and arrogant to do the same.

He's definitely fouling less than he did in January.

    Asik per month:
    November: 15 blocks, 38 fouls
    December: 17 blocks, 38 fouls
    January: 19 blocks, 49 fouls
February: 13 blocks, 34 fouls (so far)

Wow. A coach gets a job based on wins and losses. So he would rather get fired than let Lin Succeed?

I said "almost". It sure pisses him off when Lin does well though. He scored 29 against OKC with 2 3 pointers at the end of the game and the coach calls him out for scoring 29 points??? They would have lost if he didn't score 29. So yes "ALMOST".

McHale wasn't saying Lin is selfish with the ball. He could have easily said "Sometimes he would rather have 12 assists and 9 turnovers...." and had it mean the same thing.

He's just making a comment about a flaw in Jeremy's game. Sometimes he's too aggressive, and tries to impose his will on the other team rather than allow the offensive system to create the open shot. That's a consequence of him being a rookie.

And all he said about Lin's performance is "Lin hit two big shots at the end there, but everyone played well". He mentions Greg Smith more than he did Lin, not a big deal, but says a lot about what he thinks of Lin.

    Who are Harden guarding though?

It's like opposing teams are proud of holding our Omer Asik to 10 points.

So many spin doctors in this thread! Just a few things:

    (1) The subject of this thread is not about whether McHale should be calling out his players over their mistakes. Of course he should! Just that accountability cannot be selective.
    (2) This thread is not about discussing the ridiculous comparison of the Lin-McHale relationship to that of HOFs Pop-Parker.
    (3) This thread is not about TMAC. (Sorry, Tinman)

What this thread is really about is how a Headcoach has basically attempted an uncalled for character assassination on one of his players. McHale's statement started in a very innocent way: " Sometimes he’d rather have 29 points and nine turnovers and I tell him...". By this point McHale could have said many pertinent things like:
    (1) "...and I tell him that he should be more careful in his handling of the ball"
(2)"....and I tell him that he should be more patient and not force the issue"
Instead McHale veered into complete nonsense and just straight out called his own player selfish (or stupid, if you think it somewhat alleviate things). He made the original TMAC accusation: "and I tell him, ‘Jeremy, we’re trying to win'". This is the worse thing that can be thrown at basically any sportsman : "This guy is not about winning." Note that this is NOT a questioning of skills or BBIQ, instead it's a questioning of character. No headcoach worth his salt is in the business of questioning his own player's character in public.
I have already said that the Pop comparison is ridiculous as Pop knows that accountability starts with himself and that McHale tends to throw his players under the bus. Rather them than him. Tough luck Lin.

huh? What you said is complete opposite. If Lin is trying to force assists that ends up in TOs that is the epitome of unselfishness. What McHale said is he too aggressively looking for his points that is leading to TO and a loss, which is the epitome of a SELFISH player.
