i understand what you tried to do. but it's a reality. we have to live with it. we will see all kinds of ppl. some you like and some you don't like.

i don't like both LOFs and LOHs. sometimes, both sides made some good points we have to accept. we can't deny those good ideas or points from either side.

This quote, even if real, is a complete non-issue.

Does anyone really think that McHale meant "OMG LIN SUKS SO BAD" as opposed to something like "Our young inexperienced PG sometimes tries to do too much."

Whogivesa**** about his exact wording. Do you think Lin is losing sleep over this? I doubt it. So no need for you to.

How do you know what Mchale "truly" meant that's not conveyed in his quote? And if Lin wouldn't care if his coach called him a selfish player who chooses his points over team win??

Seriously, this is bs. This quote should be followed up with and addressed by Mchale. Morey and Houston media, get it done!

We don't even know if McHale said it. Could've been entirely made up.

I highly doubt it.. Can't be made up. 29 points is not something someone would even think to make it up

I don't think it's actually that big a deal. Interesting to discuss maybe. But nothing beyond that. We all know McHale goes more for laughs by exaggerating in interviews rather than actually saying something informative or insightful.

    Meh~ *shrugs*

how? this is from a media. that is the best we can have unless you have a right to talk to mchale. at least mchale used home run to describe lin. i haven't seen lin tried to be hero after harden joined us. lin is trying super hard to be a sidekicker. his mentality really limits his performance (low scoring) on which a lot LOHs picked a fight with LOFs.

Yes he should. Calling Lin a selfish player looking out for his points over team win? No coach should has ever singled out a player this way to the media! Ever.

I just plotted the numbers from NBA.com. I'm going to just explain how I processed the data and let the data talk:

    1. I categorized Lin's points per game (<10, 10-14, 15-19, and >20) and turnover per game (0-2, 3-4, 5-6, and >7) into 4 categories.

    2. I plotted points per game vs games won and lost to see how Lin's scoring affects Rockets' W/L.

    3. I plotted Turnover per game vs games won and lost to see how Lin's Turnover affects Rockets' W/L.

    4. One huge caveat of these number is that there are only 57 games logged for these season.

    5. Here are the table of the numbers to be plotted:
    Code:
    [B][COLOR="Red"]Scoring[/COLOR]		<10	10-14	15-19	>20[/B]
    [B]total Games[/B]	23	16	9	9
    [B]Games won[/B]	11	6	7	6
    [B]Games lost[/B]	12	10	2	3
    [B]Winning %[/B]	47.83	37.5	77.78	66.67

    [B][COLOR="Red"]Turnover[/COLOR]	0-2	3-4	5-6	>7[/B]
    [B]total Games[/B]	25	24	6	2
    [B]Games won[/B]	12	12	4	2
    [B]Games lost[/B]	13	12	2	0
    [B]Winning %[/B]	48	50	66.67	100

    6. Here are the plots:

Yeah never in the history of professional sports has a head coach been this rude to a player ever. He needs to apologize or get fired!

You obviously do not read near as much NY media as I do. Making up a single one line quote is the forte of that rag. If it had been stated publicly more than one source would have carried it. Otherwise you have to assume that the author got an exclusive interview with McHale. And what are the chances of that ****bag rag getting a one on one with McHale? And they did not even say how they managed to obtain the quote.

Basically, I am just going to assume that it is a complete falsehood and that the comment never happened.

"I think 29 points is pretty much Jeremy's ceiling, " said McHale.

    There, I made it up.

But even if the quote is real the context matters.

"Jeremy's a good young point guard. I think he's really headed for all-star status, but he still has work to do on turnovers. Sometimes, when no one is scoring, he tries too hard. Sometimes he’d rather have 29 points and nine turnovers and I tell him, ‘Jeremy, we’re trying to win". "

There, I made that up too.

I don't know why you put "truly" in quotations as though you were quoting me, but whatever.

I don't know for sure what he meant (assuming this quote is legit - and I doubt it is), but I'm just basing my interpretation off of how these two usually are.

McHale can be hyperbolic. But I've never heard him talk like that in an overtly negative way. It's always with a bit of humor.

And Lin seems to have a good head on his shoulders. So that's why I assume he's not overreacting to a non-issue and throwing a fit.

    Simple enough.

It doesn't surprise me that he would make a clueless statement. just like when asked about the lowry situation his response was that he never knew lowry and him had issues.
    =/
