it doesn't matter where or when to say it. it's wrong. if he said in this way that he prefers a team win instead of heroic individual win, i would be fine with it. it can apply to anyone including harden too.

Try reading what I wrote again, perhaps more slowly this time and see if you can figure it out.

I find that when Jlin scores more than 20 points, the team wins more than they lose. This is because when he scores 20 points, he does it efficiently and usually dishes out assists too. Someone find the win-loss record for the Rockets when Lin scores more than 20 points.

It was an anomaly for sure - Lin taking 22 shots in a game. Double his average per game.

Then the following two games, Lin almost exclusively looked to dish (whether that was due to his shooting being off, being sick. or something McHale said is unclear).

Sounds like newyork media again try to mess things up for Lin and Rockets. I remember the Machado quote comes from newyork media as well.

I'm almost certain Mchale didn't say these words, or it's taken way out of context. It's just not believable.

No one here can read the quote in its entirety. Most people can agree that if he walked out, uttered that single sentence, and left then he was being a bozo. I feel confident that that is not what happened.

Don't accept that one sentence printed in a paper that is trying to zing Jeremy Lin and has been for some time.

Well the only reference that I can find to McHale's supposed statement is

    http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/b...deron-health-p-pins-needles-article-1.1271479

and that is only an end sentence of an article about the health of the Nets roster. There is no reliable source on the internet for that quote other than one line in a rag newspaper.

Basically, I am just going to assume that it is a complete falsehood and that the comment never happened.

    AggNRox,

This is what Bobbythegreat is referring to. He is also correct, imo

The rift between newbies and vets is stupid.

Join me, and rise above the GARM stupidity. We will have to do this as we win a championship, anyhow.

Look I'm not trying to discuss if McHale's points about Lin are valid r not. My point is that embarrassing a player in front of the media is almost never a good idea.

It is very easy for you to say 'if you're not gonna make them or if you're just gonna F it up' after you know the results, isn't it? How do you know before hand which shot is going in which is not if you don't even try to take a shot?

Just because I say Lin should also look to get some of his own shots and shouldn't try too hard to be pure PG which he was not and is not doesn't mean I think he should take 20+ shots (other than last week's OKC game and that Spurs game which he had 38 pt, did he ever take more than 20 shots? Did he often take a lot of more than 15+ shots?) and already be the second scoring option. Everything has to be with the flow of the game. Our consistent scorer is only Harden. If Lin is hot, is in rhythm, like in that OKC game, in that GSW home game, why shouldn't he score? Parsons is inconsistent too. But if he has hot hands, he should take more shots too.

By the way, if you are talking about who should take more shots, shouldn't you make the decision based on the player's average FG%? Lin's FG% this season despite horrible starting in November is now at .434, not great, but far from bad. So considering we haven't got our second superstar yet, yes, I think for now Lin should be among one of the scoring option!

the home run hitter sets the context, it's a reference to someone who tries to with the game off his own bat, where sometimes, you know, just get a base hit, then refers to Lin trying to do everything himself (you know what the usage % of someone scoring 29 with 9 turnovers is like?)

Has anyone bothered to verify the quote?
Has anyone heard the quote in the context of the whole interview?

    Or....

Is this an example of certain posters looking for anything to validate their bias, even if it is not true?

I find it funny that this has turned into a 20 page bash McHale thread, that people are bothering Morey and no one has verified the quote.

Verified the quote? Wtf? New York media as bad as they are, don't make quotes up. Maybe you need to verify why Mcfail dissed Lin like this in a public forum
