Personally I really like Delfino's versatility and impact on the team. I'd like to see him stay with us beyond next season because he's such a valuable contributor.

The problem is we've got a glut of tweener forwards and if Morey can't find someone to absorb T-Jones contract I'd imagine he would like to free up some space so that one of Jones or White can get some playing time at the 3 spot.

There's also James Anderson signed to the Vet's minimum for two more seasons as insurance as well and he's been halfway decent.

I could see Morey selling high on him as his $3M Team Option makes him such a versatile trade asset but I also like immediate gratification.

    • Yes Delfino will be traded for a first round pick
    • No Morey will exercise the $3M team option and keep him
    • Yes he will be packaged for another player

I think Delfino is traded at the deadline next year for a lottery pick and a big contract player from a team looking to dump salary too make a run again for the 2014 Lebron/Wade/Bosh/Carmelo/Dirk/Rudy Gay/etc sweepstakes.

We could be looking at another Kevin Martin type trade.

He is a perfect fit for the team. 3-point shooting, reliable scoring, veteran experience. The 5 man lineup that include him are our best performing ones. What's the point in trading him?

I think you'll see the team option picked up and we keep him another season, especially since it's pretty likely we will want to be conserving cap space for FAs in 2014 if we can't land anyone this summer while still doing well next season.

You'll only see him traded if it's a lopsided deal in Houston's favor, which in Morey's case you can't rule out happening. It's hard to imagine such a deal where Delfino is the pivotal piece, though.

most analysts say this draft is weak so a mid first isnt worth it

delfino is only 3mil if rockets pick up his option. after what he's doing this season, we definitely should keep him.

btw the last two games lacking a starting pf, delfino grabbed 6 and 5 rebounds. its not a lot but for a 6'6 swingman to step up like that is big. he's such a bargain on that 3mil deal.

umm, if we can get a mid first rounder for delfino's expiring i'm pretty sure you do that 100% of the time. i doubt that's actually ever going to happen, though.

There is not a lot of players in the league who can play SG/SF/PF spots any time called  Keep him! Also great piece of the bench if we get any other star in summer to be contender for rings!

Love Delfino, but if we have an opportunity to sign a true star and need the cap space, he will obviously be renounced. Maybe something can be done to get him back later.

We have enough cap to sign 80 mill max AND have Delfino with money to spare

Depends. If anyone needs to be cleared off our books for capspace it will be him. A contender will waste no time in taking him off our hands for free.

If we need to trade/waive him to get Dwight or Josh Smith or Paul Millsap or a combination of them? Then he can go. If not, then he is sure to stay.

Surprising thing is he is shooting 38% from the 3 point line!! I didn't expect him to shoot that figure after only shooting 36 or 35 percent in his career.

If we can get Kyle Korver for cheap though, I'd do it.

Idk what it is, but I love the Argentinians we've had on this team. No wonder they're always a decent team in the fiba games.

I think it depends on when the deadline to exercise the option (or renounce) is.

If we can't sign a max player before that deadline and we are still in the hunt, then bye bye D3lfino. :(

Weak at the top with no sure fire blue ship prospect. But it's still deep, specially at the center spot.

Probably 10-15 teams at next years trade deadline who are looking to get well under the cap. Teams will be looking for expirings and in return will offer a good player like say Brook Lopez from NJ, Marcin Gortat from PHX, etc. who have a big contract and will offer that 1st too help entice a team like Houston that has cap space or would be willing to pay luxury tax (if Houston spends in free agency this summer). Teams will do the same thing again of loading up for Lebron, Wade, Carmelo, Rudy Gay, Bosh, Dirk, etc.

Houston can be ready to take advantage of a team like the Kings again looking to shed Kevin Martin's contract or the Knicks who gave up Hill and those 1sts for TMAC so they could sign Stoudemire and Melo.
