And if the Rockets go to the playoffs, the reports from them will all of a sudden be on the bandwagon and say they knew the Rockets would go to the playoffs. How sad.

Yeah, the media is ridiculous. I was listening to ESPN Radio on Sirius and they were grading the teams after the trade deadline. Going through the teams they thought came out on top one of the guys chose the Lakers. His reason? Because they didn't make a move and trade away Howard. So a team that is 3 under .500 got an A grade for doing nothing. Makes a lot of sense.

I agree with much of what the article said. It doesn't really say the Lakers will make the playoffs, it just says that there is a possibility that the Rockets may struggle coming down the stretch, and the Lakers have a little better chance now. It's going to depend on how well players like D-Mo and Beverley respond to being rotation players. After beating the Thunder and now the Nets, I'm feeling pretty good about our chances. If the Lakers are going to make the playoffs, they're going to have to play some great ball coming down the stretch. I would bet on the Rockets.

    Wait....which one is it,Fran???

    http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2013/02/20/rockets-gamble-on-robinson-worth-risk/

HOUSTON — Wyatt Earp, Doc Holiday and The Sundance Kid had nothing on Rockets G.M. Daryl Morey.
The itchiest trigger finger in the NBA got things rolling in the countdown to the trade deadline by shipping out two power forward candidates who hadn’t panned out and bringing back another with plenty of talent and still something to prove.
Officially, it was Patrick Patterson, Toney Douglas and Cole Aldrich going to the Kings for Thomas Robinson, Tyler Honeycutt and Francisco Garcia and Marcus Morris going to the Suns for a second round draft pick.
But the essence of the deal was the Rockets taking a shot at the 6-foot-10 Robinson, who was the No. 5 pick in the 2012 draft and a bundle of raw ability that many evaluators thought was the No. 2 pick of the litter eight months ago.
In two seasons, Patterson never established himself as a low post player on offense and did not carry his weight as a rebounder. Morris, too, is a decent mid-range shooter who also does not make his presence felt on the glass.
While there were character issues that surrounded Robinson before the draft and he was labeled a problem early in Sacramento and did not bloom, it is a move that is certainly worth the gamble for the Rockets.
If Robinson gets his act together and plays up to his potential, they’ve got a 21-year-old power forward who could fit in nicely on a roster that will now give him all the minutes he needs. If not, he carries a manageable $3.5 million contract that is only guaranteed through next season and also more cap space for free agency next summer. The Rockets were a team that had room to sign a max level free agent and another significant player and now they’ve carved out more room.
It is not on the blockbuster level of Morey’s deal that landed James Harden four days before the season opener. But it’s the kind of shrewd, low-risk deal that could set the Rockets up for an even bigger bang down the line.

That's the part I disagree with. I think we will only get better from here on in and the worst is now. And quite frankly I am not sure we could have played much better the last 2 games with Morris and PPat.

Think about it, DMo is only going to get better. He plays so hard but he doesn't know what to expect and is being thrown to wolves. Teams are playing dirty against him and he played better today than Wednesday and still made a lot of mistakes but clearly he is a better low post player than either Morris or Pat. Much better... he is just raw.

Watch his game and you can tell what he is doing wrong. He is playing the game from memory. He is thinking almost every play and he tries to overcompensate for that running 100 miles per second down the court. Jeremy Lin went through the same stuff in the beginning of the season.

G smith is fouling every 30 seconds... He hasn't mastered the art of the hiding his fouls and he gets tricked into stupid fouls. He doesn't understand all the defensive sets. He has a lot to learn, but he is a kid and he is pretty damn good for a kid. And he will only get better with more minutes.

These guys are being thrown in a difficult situation and while they aren't amazing they both are showing moments of excellence. And did I mention both of them are gazelles, thoroughbreds. They make us faster if not better. Not many bigs in the league can keep up with them.

And that's my point! It is very doubtful they will do anything but get better. So if we are to struggle it seems it would be now and not down the stretch. And we just beat the thunder who has given us fits and we beat brooklyn the second hottest team in the east in a game that the Nets desperately wanted and they played about as physical and dirty as anyone we played and IMO this was the worst officiated game I have witnessed in a couple of years. Yeah I am a homer and I mostly think we get the worst officiating but I do not remember it being as bad as last night since the Dallas series when they called everything on Yao. I definitely thought someone was trying to fix last night's game.

So now is the time for us to play bad and we aren't too bad. If we get past this we will only get better. And I am convinced we will only get betterbecauseI think DMo will only get better and he will be better than Morris or PPat will ever be. I even think T-Jones will be better than both. Yes both DMo and T-Jones will be better power forwards than PPat and Morris and DMo is almost there now. And that's the other point, unless DMO just falls apart I expect down the stretch he will be an improvement over PPat n Morris.

Anyway I think we will be fine... Our power forward tandem of Delfino and Dmo gave us 31 points and 7 boards not bad. That's the other positive that came out of this. McHale was forced to experiment with the lineup and he learned we can play small against a lot of teams and that has got to help us down the stretch. So all you guys crying about stretching the floor, Delfino stretches in ways that PPat or Morris could never. If you close on him he'll just fly by you. What a problem for other teams to deal with. Plus didn't you enjoy some of those plays DMO was pulling off.

Also did you notice I didn't even mention TRob and what about Sergio Garcia. I actually think Sergio will contribute even more. He allows us to play Delfino and gives us more versatility at the 3 which I thought we were lacking. As for Trob He is the icing on the cake... he is the extra gravy. I am a big fan but I do believe he has a lot to learn and doing on the fly is tough. He is going to be like Morris was last year for a while, just lost but if he gets it soon enough he may actually help down the stretch run and that would be scary because we are as bad as weare going to be right now.

DMO and Sergio Garcia are going to make us better... Beverly IMO is better than Douglas, and if TRob gets it before the season ends watchout west theres a darkhorse rising and it's wearing a red cap!

P.S. Just like players get better so GM's and I do believe Morey is clearly the best GM in the league now. I also think this was almost a perfect move for the Rockets that helps almost alone as addition by subtraction just like trading Battier made Budinger shine. He forced Mchale's hand. But in the end it will help.

dang Fran Blineberry is the John McClain of the Rockets. Writing against the team you cover... not going to go well with the fans. At least John McClain still has a job with the Chron.

    Wait wait, stop.

Does the NBA revolve only around the Lakers or there are just too many haters out there on Houston?

This was a great time to make this change, because the Rockets schedule gets much easier over the next month. Plenty of time of the Rockets to learn as they go against some of the lesser teams in the league.

I think that's a misconception a lot of people have. Those guys aren't hired to blow smoke up the team's *** everyday. That's what the team's PR is for.

Guys like McClain and Blinebury are supposed to be objective, which I truly think they're aiming towards. Where they fail is their opinion isn't always the most informed one. They take many things at face value and spit it out without any real depth or analysis.
