With the Rockets current financial flexibility, they may be able to sign both Josh Smith and Dwight Howard in free agency without losing any major pieces. If Morey does pull this off, how good would the Rockets be?

I don't think it is possible to sign both without losing any major pieces (Lin, Asik)

But obviously a trio of Harden, Smith, Howard is a contender...if we are getting Orlando Magic Howard and not Laker Howard.

I'm pretty sure we would have had to move either Lin or Asik to make it possible.

Yep. You could sign Smith and sign & trade Lin/Asik to the Lakers for Howard maybe. You can't sign them both in free agency unless they're both willing to take under $10M (fat chance).

They can't do it without losing major pieces.

Probably has to be a sign and trade involving Asik to Lakers. Frankly, I am not so high on Howard. He's good no question, but he's too much of a drama queen to fit in this team. Josh Smith does not worth the max, he's only worth it in terms of luring Howard. I rather we wait for our PFs to get developed for another season

Am I the only one who doesn't want either of those players (divas) messing up our team? Howard is probably the most annoying player in the NBA and a baby. Josh Smith can jump high and lose playoff games.

Didn't see it until now, and I know there are more fans who have this mindset. Just trying to start some drama like Howard and Smith would.

It would be hard team to beat I know that especially if Howard is happy and not injured

If you want howard and smith you are going to lose, asik, lin, parsons, robinson who we just signed probably. Lin and Asik are major pieces to this team right now.

    How about this?

    Will any of our PFs/Center

    Get

    Season: 17.2Pts, 8.6 Reb, 4.2 Ast, 2.1 Blk
    Career: 15.2Pts, 8.0 Reb, 3.2 Ast, 2.2 Blk

    Season: 16.4Pts, 11.8 Reb, 1.5 Ast, 2.3 Blk
    Career: 18.3Pts, 12.9 Reb, 1.5 Ast, 2.2 Blk

Look at those numbers... Let it soak in. Now add Harden and some quality league minimum players ala Miami Heat. That is a championship team.

Just Smith and Howard alone would create one the strongest/toughest/shot blocking front court the NBA has scene in a long time.

Will any of our PF's/Centers pan out similar numbers? 1% chance

And if not Howard or Smith. Who do you get?

I would shoot myself if that happens. I hate Howard's attitude, and Josh Smith is not worth the max and not a fan of his game.

I would think we would probably lose Asik if we got Howard, but would not consider that a major piece, because he would be a backup behind Dwight anyway. Im not a capologist, but from my calculations, we could have 10 players with around 23 million space remaining no major moves. This would mean not excersizing the team options on Garcia and Delfino. Its hard to believe we could get both for that amount, but if Asik is moved that gets it to approximately 30 mil which is very concievable

Why everyone speculate sign and trade with Lakers? Why not the Hawks?

They are clearly interested in Asik/Parsons, so sign Howard outright, then sign-and-trade for Josh Smith (hopefully not Parsons included)

Personally, I am not too high on signing 3 max type players as it severely affects our salary cap and flexibility. I would rather have 2 top-tier players, a solid bench (with reasonable salaries) and flexibility for sign and trade for key pieces.
