Hope the best but the trade has bust written all over it. I don't really like the idea of playing small ball until Robinson is ready. Both our power forward prospects are extremely raw now. D-Mo really struggled in the 5 minutes he had against OKC. Patterson gave us guaranteed offense with good defense and now we replaced him with a guy who is only better at rebounding and worse at everything else.

If you replace 'Sacto' with 'San Antonio' or 'Oklahoma City' then I'd be a lot more pessimistic about it.

Seeing as it is Sacramento though...if anything the likely outcome is that he turns out to be a perennial all-star :p

I remember how the Knicks' front office destroyed Jeremy Lin when he signed with us. Stories of how he was a locker room cancer, let his team down in the playoffs, and let Linsanity get to his head. Blah blah blah.

Kinda hard to show what you have as a rookie when your team is full of guards who don't know the meaning of the word pass.

As for this piece, I'll go with Cat and emjohn on this one. Hit piece to make the fans feel better about the trade.

Don't forget Thabeet! And where are they all now? Elsewhere, not tying up one cent of the Rockets' cap or troubling us in any way. Morey will always gamble on these high-upside lottery picks when they shake loose. He also happens to be very good at getting rid of them if they don't pan out.

If Jones, Donuts, and even Robinson underwhelm, you can bet he'll cash in those chips and try again on some other high-upside guys.

Exactly. PPat's stat line is very misleading. I don't know how Morey did it, but he looks like a star waiting to break out, but he can't due to the fact that the Rockets have 10 PFs. The fact that he only averaged 25.9 minutes makes him look like a capable rebounder. His high FG% is due to the fact that he gets wide open looks at the basket from mid range or someone finds him for an easy lay up (notice I said lay up). He never creates offense, because he can't.

The article doesn't say that at all. It says the trade makes no sense.

Not the same at all. It's not the King's front office. Its a reporter, and he rips the Kings more than Robinson, if you read the whole article.

2Pat is going to average 25 ppg with SAC: The kickout for a long 2 is the shot their backcourt is best at creating.

As others have mentioned, he was buried in the lineup behind some solid, experienced players. Not to mention the culture and atmosphere in that locker room. I'm as optimistic as everyone else, but realistically I'm not going to set my expectations high. Ultimately he's still a big question mark.

But I don't mind the move either way. We know PP is not going to be our starting PF on a championship contending team. His skill set wasn't exactly a good fit for our needs, and ideally we need an all-star or near all-star caliber guy at that position. He was the weakest link in the starting lineup.

It's better to move on now and vet other potential players, plus leaving the option to sign bigger names. Harden is a top 10 player and we need to build a contending lineup sooner than later.

i've seen the kid play this season and was very high on him before the trade. he plays hard, will be a tremendous rebounder, is a good finisher around the basket (contrary to this bs article) and that's with either hand, and is very quick off the floor. he can't shoot worth a lick though.

Not only that, but who wouldn't brood when you're not sure what your status at work is at, and your feeling responsible for your younger sister because you have practically no family left and you might not fully trust your dad because he was in prison?

agree. i won't hype him until i see his development. i said again and again ppat will not a monster unless he develop his post moves. clearly he didn't complish anything regarding post moves. i don't mind to trade ppat to get another look at robinson. ppat is a role player, best suit for a backup. who knows what will happen robinson.

Yeah, it's important to remember that even "good" talent evalutators only get it right about half the time. I actually think there was more of over-arching goal in aquiring guys like Hill, Flynn and Tahbeet since they all expired and weren't extended past their rookie contracts, but this is bound to pay off. Especially, with a big men who don't really tend to come into their own until their second or third season. But, nobody can accuse Maurey of not swinging for the fences.

I trust our evaluation too, but I did notice in the interview that Morey noted how Thomas looked at Kansas, and not neccessarily how he looked in Sacramento. So you have to think Daryl'sevaluation was primarily based on what he reviewed leading into that draft. On short notice, you go with what you know, so ok with that, but that did strike me.

Given the short develoment time thus far, their is much hope. The good thing is he's anthete, and that ought to be enough to deliver a decent baseline to work from. Let's the trials begin tonight.

Whatever, for some reason, I have a good feeling about this kid. Patterson and Morris were never high on my list, very inconsistent. Last season, Patterson was MIA; Morris is up and down. He may not be much either, but I think otherwise.
