Let's just hope he doesn't end up a disappointment like:

    2002 - #6 NIKOLOZ TSKITISHVILI
    2003 - #2 Darko Milicic
    2005 - #2 Marvin Williams
    2005 - #7 Charlie Villanueva
    2005 - #9 Ike Diogu
    2006 - #5 Shelden Williams
    2007 - #6 Yi Jianlian
    2008 - #2 Michael Beasley
    2008 - #8 Joe Alexander
    2009 - #2 Thabeet
    2009 - #8 Jordan Hill

I'll stop there. I'll give the 2010+ draft class 3 yrs to redeem themselves.

There's a LOT of work ahead of the Rockets and T-Rob, hopefully he makes it.

Any ideas of their jersey numbers?

My guess is 0 for Trob and 32 for Garcia

Of course he won't play for a while. He is a rookie that is coming into a new system and team he hasn't practiced with. It will take him a bit but he will be getting minutes soon enough.

That 2009 class was very bipolar. It was either hit or miss.

You have great picks like James Harden, Blake Griffin, Ricky Rubio, Stephen Curry, Tyreke Evans, Brandon Jennings, DeMar Derozan.

But in the same token, you have bust like Hasheem Thabeet, Jordan Hill, Jonny Flynn, Terrence Williams, Earl Clark, Gerald Henderson

All in the lottery.... that draft was cray..

I agree that Defino will most likely be the starter for at least the next few games. If DMo steps up, then great. Jones is too far behind to make a difference this year. And while McHale doesn't play players based on draft order, he does give time when it's deserved. TRob might get a few backup minutes but ONLY if it doesn't hurt the team. He doesn't experiment too long in games. That is what practice is for. And because he's not a stretch 4, I don't think Kevin will see that as a fit/starter right away. I would be surprised if he gets 15 minutes a night for the Rockets this year. So this year took a hit.

Now as far as future goes...yes we had too many PF that all had similiar qualities and none were critical to the team but, they had value to us now and make great bench players. They were very young and while they may be close to their ceiling (who knows), they served us well in places where it might not show up in the scorebox. I hope TRob grows to a superstar, star or even a starter but I'm reserved on that right now. He has the tools, but that doesn't always translate to a starter BB player.

My biggest fear is that this trade causes us to lose that last spot to the Lakers, we pick 14 ...again... and TRob plays out his contract as a off the bench player.

The trade will make us worse in the short term. The shooting and ability to spread the floor from Patt/Morris has been crucial in our offense.

Hopefully with some more minutes, DMo is able to find his shot.. The coaches have said that he's been tearing it up in practice, so we should finally get to see what he can do.

You know what almost every single one of those listed guys has in common?

Zero motor, zero passion for the game, and almost no willingness to work on their game.

Not going to be an issue with Robinson. Motor alone, he's going to win over McHale before March is out. And the massive portion of the BBS that mistakenly thinks he's (going to be) a bust because they never watched him play.

I thought Hill was/is working hard and had/has passion. Of course that's just some outsider's perspective. Only the staff really knows.

    Not really.

Obviously everyone is a overstatement, but you must realize that almost every NBA player comes into the league being a #1 option for their college team. (Unless you play on say Kentucky or Duke or NC...you get the point)

Kenny Smith one time said that it's easy to pad scoring stats...this is Kenny Smith talking and he played during a time where perimeter players could be abused.

Most NBA players know how to score and if you focus a offense around them you could make them look like a guy who can score. The best players are not the best players because they can score, it's because they can do other things. Durant came into the NBA with the ability to drop 25 in his sleep, he had to get his defense up and his rebounding up to be who he is now though.

    anyways
The whole thing about missing scoring from Patterson and Morris is really nothing, because we literally get the same out of playing Parsons and Delfino...some may argue "Yeah but they are too small" well how many stretch 4s play big? Most are guys who won't bang down low and rather stand on the arc waiting for the ball.

The more I think of this trade, the more I like it. When names were being tossed about I was hoping for someone like Faried or Ibaka:

    http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=7640309&postcount=164

Sure, I didn't get the name right (surprised the Kings gave up on him so soon), but Robinson definitely fits the bill, and has more upside than Johnson or Thompson. Happy happy happy.

Are these trades Morey's way of subtly moving us in the direction of landing in the Lottery?

That trade might cost Rockets playoffs.

This trade makes us better now and for the future. We are running the spread
Offense now and the lane is wide open for Jeremy Lin and James Harden. We become better on the perimeter defensively and lose little defensively in the paint.
