Doesn't mean he can't become solid or great player. He's had as good a season as Nash did his rookie year. And there's plenty of cases of players developing slowly. Robinson himself developed extremely slowly in college.

And let me say I'm definitely in favor of the trade. Garbage out, increased cap room, and the option on Robinson.

But I'm not holding my breath he becomes GREAT. If he does, yay. But I have concerns. before his junior year he was nothing special in college. perhaps because he was behind more senior players and it was just a wait your turn type deal, and that's somewhat true. but even still, once he exploded as a junior, so so much of his game has been about his athleticism for so long... the kid has a lot to work on.

People point to Blake. For one, Blake has supernatural athleticism. Regardless of what it says on paper, Blake's athleticism at his size translates to the NBA game in a fairly unique way, even among other unique athletes. But even with that, Blake didn't come into the league as devoid of a "half-court" offensive and defensive skill-set as Robinson appears to have currently.

I hope Robinson develops, but I think more than anything what has happened is his athleticism hasn't translated the way Blake's or Amare's did, and short of that his game needs more refinement and development than expected. In short, he's not as good as expected, and has more of an uphill battle than expected.

But he should get better. Hopefully change of scenery helps.

I agree totally. If you compared his physical tools to a guy like Terrance Jones, its not really close. Jones at his size is a better athlete,plus he can handle the ball like a guard. That's not to say robinson can't make it, I'm just saying that we see a raw guy like drummond playing limited minutes and impacting the game. Why? He's a super athletic 7ft er. I say it all the time, top 5-10 picks need to have special qualities to justify draft position. Its hard to draft a guy that high and then say, we just need him to finish around the rim. Now, if we're talking mid or late round picks, different animal. We'll see soon enough, but I'm not gonna blame sacramento for his lack of.

Surely the former Kansas standout is to be admired for overcoming personal tragedy and adversity, but he maintained a sense of entitlement fueled by his lofty draft status – as was often noted by Kings coach Keith Smart.

Ok i think im in the minority here because i like the move. i think we improved now and moving forward.it seems everyone here is just speculating that Robinson was being held back by Smart and our terrible coaching. But Robinson looked like his own worst enemy out there... he started off the summer trying to play like a PG by running the ball up the floor. something he still screws up which usually leads to a force at the rim or a TO. he's out of control doing anything other than WIDE open dunking. has no post moves. has an issue with taller NBA sized bigs on both ends. and considering his own size and athleticism gets bullied around too much on both ends... terrible defense... although gets a highlight block here and there...he shoots jumpers too much and at a terrible %, and has mikki moore hands....

i will say this JT took awhile to be a solid role player. I think a more explosive JT is Robinsons ceiling.

Trob's career just took the high road.

Yeah, his career is far better off for this. Such an unholy mess here with the worst owners in professional sports history, and a gutless, incompetent GM.

Man, Hou has some great promise. They will have cap space, and still have Lin/Harden/Parsons/Trob/Asik are all locked up and just now entering their primes.

Now, let's get to Robinson: if you followed me at the college prospects section, I've long hated Robinson: I thought he had no offense in college, and largely lived off this space of rebounding, and that's about it. He was an able defender and was very athletic in college, though, but still, a Paul Millsap without the offense: what's that lead to? That was my initial assessment of TRob. I had him as a late 1st rounder, and for a time many of us were saying that he was playing like a late 1st rounder, which is about right. And if you look at what he's done with us: offensively, he's a mess. He can't finish around the basket at all, despite getting a ton of offensive boards off our guards' bricks, he gets blocked a ton, he's sloppy with his handles at times, and he doesn't stretch the floor that well.

And believe it or not, considering all the lowly defenders we had, TRob was our 2nd best defender. Behind Chuck Hayes. Oh, he was flawed--all of our defenders were--but at least T-Rob guarded the mid-range shot very well. It's just that when you got a step on him, it was over--he couldn't defend the rim at all, especially with his size. Still, having some semblance of defense with rebounding is something our team could have used, and we're replacing him with Patterson--who brings zero defense and zero rebounding.

T-Rob is going to pull a J.J. Hickson, get quality minutes on a good team and put up 12/8 towards the end of the season.

I'm sure gonna miss TRob's shocking array of post bricks.

What's the big hoopla about?

We got Patrick Patterson who is a monster rebounder and game changer. Cole Aldrich who is a beast at guarding the rim for 6 minutes a game. We got Toney Douglas who is just an efficient scoring extraordinaire. But most of all we got that CASH MONEY!

well it sucks to be patterson then, working hard for 3 years setting yourself up for a nice payday and boom your traded to the worst situation possible. who knows how his minutes will be worked in, they certainly wont be as consistant as they were in houston, not many guys have been traded to sac and played better, espcially in our non winning eras.

One concern about Trob is his inability to overcome size issue and finish around the rim. This is the same thing bothering Royce White and numerous prospects once they land in NBA.

We tried to transform Morris into a 3 without success, because he can't defend the opposing 3's. One thing about Trob though is his uniqueness in terms of his speed and lateral quickness.

Defensively is where NBA teams will likely see the most potential in him initially. His combination of length, strength, athleticism and intensity is simply ideal for a power forward, giving him the versatility to guard virtually any position on the floor. Already we regularly see Robinson switching out onto guards and having no problem at all staying in front of them on the perimeter. He does a great job moving his feet and using his terrific wingspan to contest shots, and brings a real business-like approach to his work on this end of the floor.

Just like Millsap/Faried playing 3 sometimes with success, I think Trob should be able to play SF as well, and allow DMO/TJ to play the 4.
