ESPN's blatant hate and disregard for the Rockets is unbelievable

Ummm, I don't think I have the distorted view...but how about those Rockets? Great aren't they? I am looking forward to seeing Thomas Robinson play with our young team. Our future is bright.

they were butthurt, plain and simple and acted like sore losers, its wasnt because it was houston, it was because the Rockets just waxed their Knicks.. once all of Houston started cacelling their subscriptions to SI, they caved in..

Rockets were all over Grantland today:

Trade Deadline Exchange Pt. 1, Zach Lowe and Bill Simmons

"Everyone, STOP TRADING WITH DORK ELVIS!!!!!"

    NBA Trade Deadline Day Shootaround

Caption for the previous .gif, "A Measured Reaction to Trade Deadline Day From a Rockets Fan"

    About Last Night

"James Harden had a career night against his former team, scoring 46 points as the Houston Rockets edged the Oklahoma City Thunder, 122-119. After the game, Kevin Durant was distraught in the locker room, telling coach Scott Brooks, "He was my best friend. Now he moves away, and he acts like he doesn't even know me. This is your fault! We never should've let him move! It's not fair!""

    and

""Usually my team has to use math and stuff to find bargains," Morey explained, "but the only analytics necessary in this case was this picture of the Maloofs looking relatively haggard and unkempt. If the Maloofs can't afford hair gel, they can't afford not to dump salary.""

Anyway I think the trick is to stop watching TV. Watch the actual sports, read for the good commentary. It's a lot easier to limit your intake of Chris Broussard that way.

Arguing about which media outlet is more factual is like arguing about whether the Bobcats or the Hornets have more championships.

Although I know it's hip and popular to assume that only Fox is selective and biased.

I don't need ESPN to "analyze" the Rockets for me. Nor do I need them to cover, or show highlights of games.

Clutchfans does all these things better than any network anywhere.

You're also assuming a lot from what I actually said. Criticism of Fox doesn't mean all the others get a pass. His point was that one told the truth, the other lied. They both lie

The writers actually are pretty fair. It's the guys that get the face time on air that are bias.

Rick Bucher was the worst, still is even though he doesn't work for ESPN anymore. He wrote an article on how Steph Curry deserved to be an allstar over Harden... And when he was with ESPN, he constantly took jabs at Houston!

The only guys that get a lot of air time I really like are Simmons, Stien, JVG, and Legler. But there are a lot of .com writers that are very fair, the best may be Brian Windthorst. He's a Miami(Lebron) guy but he always keeps it real!

The worst ones are Jalen, Magic (although he is intertaining), Rambis, SAS, and Skip

The Rockets are playing the role of villain right now. We're in the 8th spot ahead of ESPN's precious Lakers. Of course ESPN doesn't like us.

I thought channels like ESPN are for casual fans only, since they are more interested in highlights, controversial stuff.

I just watch the game, often with the mute on.

That wasn't necessarily a personal post towards you. I just know there's a lot of animosity for Fox on Clutchfans and the other networks tend to get a pass (see SuperKev's post right above :) ).

At any rate - I don't like ESPN for much the same reasons; they cover a wide variety of sports issues but should just be a starting place for forming opinions about a player or a topic. They are driven by sensationalism and marketing as any business their size must be. It doesn't hurt my feelings that they don't give the Rockets more air time.

Houston doesn't have a professional hockey team. That's a big factor.

I remember when ESPN first started. It covered billiards, Australian Rules football, beach volleyball, darts, etc. But what made it really interesting was the news portion. Excellent, insightful, and often humorous commentary that focused on the game and the players. Over time it gained in stature and exposure and turned into the premier sports station.

That was then. This is now. Since its purchase it has devolved to become almost unwatchable. It seems to me to look more like MTV than a sports station. I agree with many posters here the best coverage of sports is through the traditional or electronic press. Having said that, I do not believe ESPN is particularly biased against the Rockets. I believe they have a general bias against true sports in favor of sensationalism and controversy. Their purpose is no longer sport. Sport is but their vehicle to sell drama.
