I would not trade any starters for him. We can get him in the offseason as a free agent unless some idiot trades for him then offers him a 5 year max deal, in which case they're welcome to overpay horribly.

I would trade maybe 2 of the rookies for him. Plus some contract filler, maybe a 2nd rounder or something. We have 4 power forwards who are rookies. And one 21 year old second year player (Greg Smith). It's not like we are going to be able to give all those guys playing time anyway.

We all know who he is, Newb. He's the best damned GM in the NBA.

Dorrell Moari should offer to trade his middle finger instead.

As long as no one else gets him its good for us. I would have liked to see him this year so we could make a run, but I guess we can wait.

Josh Smith: "Atlanta will be on my list in free agency." Pretty obvious that all options remain on the table for Smith and the Hawks.

#Hawks would have reasons to keep Smith: Playoff push; to save $ when he leaves; or maybe they do go after Dwight Howard, Smith's pal.

It's hard to imagine Atlanta NOT trading him though.

It's clear that the two will part, This is the best chance they have at getting something for him.

It'll be the last deal of the day but he has to be dealt. Even if it's not for much they have to get something.

I guess if you want the Rockets to sign him in UFA then you'll be wishing he goes to Milwaukee.

    Good news everybody!

The Houston Rockets have reportedly pulled out of their pursuit of Josh Smith.

The Rockets presumably could sign Smith outright in the summer with their cap space.

The Atlanta Hawks have been aggressively shopping Smith ahead of the deadline.

It's starting to seem like Smith may not get an max offer at all. I think whatever team offers him the full 5 years 80 mill will be acting out of desperation. Maurey is right to wait it out. Maybe even lowball him like he does with our own free agents. We'll be, by far, the best situation for him.

SMOKE. Daryl Morey wants the media to leave him alone while he rapes them Hawks. He is still working a deal for Smith. IMO.

Smith: I do (feel like a max player) but at the same time, in my mind, will I take the same amount or less to be on a championship contender? I would. Like I told the reporter, as a player, you have to know your worth. You gotta set the standards high and I am because out of all the things I do on the court. I didn't demand anything. That wasn't the case.
