Granted it's not the same caliber trade before the season Stern owes us one and I doubt he'd consider that.

Compare how Robinson played in college to how Hill played in college. Robinson is on another level. He carried that Kansas team all year.

He can already rebound better than Patsquatch and is probably a comparable defender if not better. He could also have a better inside game than Pat by year's end.

I have been a fan of Robinson for a while. He was the guy I wanted the Rockets to trade up for in the draft. Then when the Kings took him, I knew he wouldn't do well there. His game doesn't mix well with Cousins' (few do). And that organization is a mess. So his rookie year is really just starting, and I trust the Rockets to develop big men.

The main ones I'm sorry to lose are Patterson and Morris. We know that Patterson and Morris both work on their game haven't yet hit their ceiling. They've worked hard, and I like their game.

Robinson is on a bad team and should be able to get more PT than he has. That troubles me. I was basing the not much better than Patterson on his Per 36 minute stats, not anything he's actually done this season. And the better part was only in rebounding. Scoring wise it's worse.

If I was to base it on what each have done on the floor this season, then Robinson isn't even close to Patterson.

The key to this trade is that TRob by far has more trade value than any of the players we sent out. That tantalizing potential tag. It does not matter whether he becomes a Jordan Hill or a Derrick Favors or a Karl Malone. In one fell swoop, we now have the best offer for a guy on the block like Josh Smith.

That's a better comparison than to what other people have pegged Robinson at.

The dude has played literally less than double digit minutes a game for half the season and the Kings have already decided to cut bait.

I hope we keep T-Rob and don't parlay him into a second trade, definitely not for J-Smoove.

The Kings have to be the worst franchise ever excluding the Webber days, hopefully they can make a turnaround when make the move north to Seattle.

My apologize if I came across rude or confrontational...
I still don't see why you credit these guys for doing their job/being loyal. If they don't work hard and go to the D-League, they'll be out of the league. They gotta earn those big paychecks. You don't do your job the way the boss' expect you to... You're out of the league... (or traded to the Kings ;) )

    Please don't trade him Morey.

Obviously, if it's for Love/Aldridge/Howard then pull the trigger but don't just trade him for Smith or some bum you can sign later if you wanted.

Maybe this has been posted already but

NBA source tells me #Rockets trade for #Kings Thomas Robinson is to facilitate another Hou deal

So we traded for Robinson to be part of another trade soon?:eek: Tell me if I'm reading this wrong.

Consdering how Scola, Patterson and Morris developed here I dont see why Robinson wouldnt

I dont know if he will be an all-star type player as some think he can be -- of course he can be with his potential but very few actually reach their potential

What he does do well - -rebounding -- the Rockets need that badly and he can make a positive impact right away. Hopefully under McHale he'll learn some post moves (because we have no post players whatsoever)

if anything this made some room for Jones and Dmo - so I am happy over this trade.

I think the Rockets are going to pull a trade for Kevin Love tomorrow. Then they will sign Dwight Howard this offseason.

    Next years lineup

    Howard/Asik
    Love/DMo
    Parsons/Delfino
    Harden/??
    Lin/Beverly

That's a ball club right there!!

Can't wait for Mchale to coach this young big up. The Kings are the North Korea of the NBA they are whacked beyond belief.

while I think this is a good trade on the surface (no real downside...taking a gamble on Robinson's upside) I'm a little worried about the psyche of the Rockets players.

Once again, anyone is fair game to be shipped off including those with longer-term contracts (Parsons, Asik, Lin etc). I just hope Morey hurries up and finds that #2 star so we can establish a Rocket core that will hopefully be around for a while. While the trades are exciting, we need less carousel and more stability. Hopefully we get that soon! (and I'm not disputing the trades to get better..I just want to get to a level of certainty sooner for the team).

Finally, I think this opens up time for DMO. DMO is a stretch 4 and can hit the three ala Patterson but brings a post game to boot which neither PPat or Morris had. I think he has all-star potential and hopefully can rebound and play above avg. defense. I think Robinson is still a bit of a project and I doubt he'd be thrust into the starting role...of course he may never play for the rockets (to be traded?) so we'll see.

Oh and we beat the Thunder tonight, shorthanded!:cool::cool:

Favors was a monster coming out of H.S. and has potential to be a franchise player at either frontcourt position PF or C. Outside of possibly Anthony Davis there haven't been any other bigs with Favors potential in the draft the past 2 years.

Not knocking Robinson but he will be more of an energy big. There is a reason he was backing up the Marcus twins when he first got to Kansas. I still think he can be a good player but he is not Favors.

Yeah I will be so pissed if we trade him away for an overrated, soon-to-be free agent Josh Smith.

Wolves already have a questionable high draft pick PF in Derrick Williams.

He may completely suck offensively and defensively, but AT LEAST HE CAN REBOUND.
