I am pretty sure Morey evaluated all of the options given to him and exhausted 100 options before he made the trade final. We probably could have gotten a nice player (not great, but nice) for Morris but we didn't want to add salary. Morey also was able to move Morris with his brother which creates a "feel-good" story about Morey as well. Considering the overall haul vs the outgoing, we ran away like bandits

Stop it with these Josh Smith talk. I hope we don't go after Josh Smith. I don't like him at all, we might as well keep Terrence Jones and Thomas Robinson. Paul Millsap or Aldridge are who I want.

    I agree.

I'm going to be pretty disappointed if we flip Robinson for Millsap or Smith.

Those guys are going to get paid and prevent you from getting a real max player for the next 4-5 years.

The only thing I remember about Robinson was his draft day interview about his little sister and how he was trying to adopt her. I liked that story.

Perhaps the second trade requires two picks

That's when you know it's a possibility, quiet before the storm. I love our front office.

Yeah, unless it's for LMA, keep T. Robinson. I think he's a 16 and 8 guy with a little bit of defense.

Has the trade been sent to the league office? Is Robinson for Josh Smith a possibility?

Is Garcias second year a team option? He has 2 years left.

    Seriously doubt it.

Yes, it is a team option. Not sure if any of his salary is guaranteed.

I think the fact that Terrence has not been in the game yet and that there are reports that TRob is just bait for a bigger deal, like Smith, is a strong indication that another shoe is going to drop. Might shed some light on what the PHX deal is all about.

Loving these deals so far though -- the PF position of Morris and Patterson was not just the weak link right now, but in the long term as well. Whether we are getting a veteran or keeping Robinson, this deal is going to make that position a lot better for the organization as a whole.

It was most likely a cost-cutting move.

Plus, Patterson combos with Cousins, better, methinks. Patterson can spread the floor better than Robinson, plus he and Cousins already have familiarity amongst them.

Im convinced this is the setup pitch before the high heater.

Trade TJones for a 1st rounder

    Then....

    1st, 2 2nds, T Robinson, filler for Love??

I like how everybody thinks we got a 5th pick for two 14th picks.

    Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

We got a 5th pick for two 14th picks, an 11th pick  and cash.

I kind of predicted on clutchfans (too many posts back, can't be bother to dig for it) that since we got the Knicks to pay us for taking on Toney Douglas (essentially playing for free), we may also pay someone to take Douglas off our hands. I know the deal is more complicated than just TD, but ...

We paid $1M to the Kings, and TD's contract is ~$2M, so we basically paid for the remainder of TD's contract for the Kings to take him on.

So effectively the Knicks paid Toney Douglas to play for the Rockets before the trade deadline and for the Kings after the trade deadline!!! And they want a 3pt shooting combo guard who doesn't need to play PG (already got Kidd, Felton and Prigioni) to space the floor in place of Iman Shumpert. Sound like TD???

Sacramento is not capable of judging talent. What in their history makes you think they are?

Cousins seems to respect Patterson as well. Having him there may help keep Cousins in check.

Yes, it makes him an expiring contract. His contract can also be useful for a followup big trade between the end of the season and June 30th.

Low risk, high reward move. Robinson is a quality prospect in his rookie year. If he develops and becomes a really good player, we can either keep him or move him for another all-star. If not, a rookie scale contract doesn't hurt much at all. Great moves by Morey to clear the glut.
