It's less likely that the Bulls would give us an extra asset in return for nothing. They've been about 'replacement' for the last few years, so if they are willing to give up some kind of pick, they'll tend to want something in return.

I wonder if they've pegged someone on our roster as a 'replacement' for an outgoing asset? I also wonder how much the Terrence Jones shopping has to do with a possible Chicago deal?

I imagine he's not heading to Chicago, but rather is being shopped to open a roster spot so we can bring back 2 contracts from Chicago while only sending 1 out. To do that, we'd first need to make a roster spot available.

If we were to take Hamilton and Radmanovic, we could send back Patterson (or anyone cheaper than him). If we are trying to elicit someone like Mirotic, then it's quite conceivable they're trying to add a rookie scale bigman from our roster who can help over the next few seasons at low cost. Patterson is the most expensive one we have, and so they could be talking about any of them I suppose? It could be Jones and the shopping him for a first might just be the way of establishing his value? If we do make a 2-1 (Radmanovic is just a minimum salary expiring who doesn't play for them anyway), we'd definitely need to create the roster spot first.

Well Hamilton is on an expring contract. Les would only be paying him the prorated portion of his $5 mil salary for the remainder of the season (which is about $2 mil). It doesn't hurt the cap in the summer and Rip can help us this season. So I say yes as long as he's cheap (maybe we can even get a pick from Chicago).

Someone tell me if they have the same sneaking suspicion as me. I have a feeling that Morey is trying to trade t.jones for a 1st for two reasons. First to obtain a pick, and secondly to open a roster spot.

In my eyes this is part of the ongoing talks with Chicago. We need to open up a roster spot in order to swallow rips contract without having to cut someone. But it also opens up the convo on acquiring that bobcats pick.

We could send out the acquired 1st to Chicago, along with swallowing rips contract in return for charlottes 1st.

Houston out: 1st rd pick acquired in t.jones trade.
Houston in: Charlottes 1stand rip Hamilton.

Chicago out: rip Hamilton and Charlottes 1st.
Chicago in:1st via t.Jones trade and cap space.

I repped him for you (and me). Thanks HMMMHMM.

I don't see Memphis or Orlando wanting to play. Denver is a maybe. Cleveland and Phoenix are a yes but I think Cleveland is too short since that last trade.

Also I think there are other teams out there beside the Bulls that want to unload. I'd add LA but their trade chest is empty.

former champ. hell yeah. we need a vet. specially him teaching lin and harden a few guard techniques and how to get foul calls. kmart based his game on rip, miller.. plus rip played with Jordan in wizards. he has so much wisdom to teach. I followed detroit when they got Sheed til they won against LA. rip is awesome come playoff time. specially rockets not really having a set scorer on the bench.
he's perfect. hope we get him and a 2nd round pick.

delfino+hamilton reunion back in Detroit days will be awesome. fuel some, even a little bad boys spirit in young rockets will be crucial for playoffs. get him Morey!!!

rip is a master of moving without the ball and cutting + catch and shoot and he's so fast. he's a perfect fit for this pass first rockets squad. imagine him running around making teams confused.. perfect for freestyle rockets bball. leaves shooters open and room for lin and harden to make plays while they pay attention to where Hamilton is.

I'd be happy with T.Jones out and Rip, 1st, Mirotic in... however DM makes that happen! ;)

Not sure if you meant we'd be receiving a 1st AND Mirotic or not, but there is no way Chicago agrees to that. I'm guessing they don't pull the trigger on the deal at all if it involves Mirotic, but we'll see. Morey is a wizard after all.

Why is everyone so focused on capspace for this summer? There's nothing out there worth wasting our capspace on. After Paul & Howard (one of which we won't get and the other we don't want) there's a bunch of players that will command more money than they're worth.

If you want capspace, you want it for 2014 when the big guns become available. In the meantime, find all stars who have contracts that expire following the 2013-14 season like Deng.

And in order to take those large contract players off of teams hands that expire after the 2013-2014 season, you need............cap space!

Teams tend to favor draft picks over players in trades. You don't have to "force a fit", so to speak---"here's a PF"; "we need a wing"---and in trade the pick costs: nothing.

And yes, that cap space will come in handy. Players want to be here now. It's up to Morey to make something happen.

I like this move to deepen the bench and I am sure they can get the Bulls 1st in the process for getting them under the cap.
