Honestly it works best for us if lakers dont trade Howard.....and howard decides to leave. It puts the nets out of the discussion...basically it would be between us, mavs, and Atlanta. I think we win
That's going to be interesting. Kobe, if you recall, only wanted to play for the Lakers when he was drafted. At the same time, I can't see him retiring. I wouldn't be surprised if a bad team struggling to fill seats (Seattle) signs him or if Minnesota makes a move or if Kobe decides to play in Europe for a big payday.
Themis (Greece) Given that Kobe and Howard do not like eachother, Why do not the Lakers trade Kobe and keep the younger Howard and build for the future. The could still get a lot for Kobe even though he is 34. Chad Ford (1:41 PM) One, Kobe has a no trade clause, so they can't just ship him anywhere. Two, Kobe is very popular in LA. Dwight is not. It would be a very hard sell to fans. However, with that said, I've heard rumblings that if Howard told Laker officials this summer that the only way he'd stay in LA is if Kobe leaves, the Lakers could end up choosing Howard over Kobe. It's an unlikely scenario, but one worth watching.
i got to love Howard lately seeing how he like to smile even if he is losing and want to have fun playing more than anything else...my kind of a guy....I think he would fit nicely with other guys and would play without pain here... i think Kobe created bad atmosphere is hurting him psychosomatically and his healing is slowed down...
They'll have to drag Kobe off the court. He'll play till he's 45 if he can find a team who'll give him minutes.
yep.. and Pau pretty much said that he's likely to ask for a trade this summer. it will be interesting to watch.
If so, that gives the Lakers some leverage to convince him to waive his no-trade clause and ship him out this offseason, or even at the deadline. If he wants to play somewhere after his contract is up, it won't be with the Lakers. So, he may as well give up the one-franchise career now, preserve his bird rights, and get started building on the next chapter of his career. I don't believe Laker fans are going to punish the team for shipping Kobe out. People know he's getting old and their teams sucks and something has to be done and they can't afford to just have Howard walk away. There may be mourning, but people will understand.
If Dwight says "I'll resign as long as you don't resign Kobe" would the Lakers do it? That means only 1 more season of putting up w/ this drama for $30 mil. I could see Dwight going for that.

Then he backtracks. A reporter brought up how Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak said on the radio today that he sees Howard having a future here. Does Howard feel the same way? "I do," Howard said. "We talked about it plenty of times." Kupchak also talked about hoping Howard would have a storied career that would entail the Lakers center having a retired jersey on the Staples Center rafters. "That's what we've always talked about since the first day I got here," Howard said. "It hasn't stopped. The goal hasn't changed and it won't change." So that means Howard's coming back next season, right? Not quite. "The only thing that matters is right now. Nobody can control what happens this offseason," Howard said. "But like I said to you guys before, it's not something I need to talk about every day. There's no need for me to make a decision. Right now, it's where I want to be in the future. My goal hasn't changed. I want to win a championship and want to win one here. I'm here right now and this is our chance to get one this season. It's been tough. Btu we have an opportunity to change all that."
And don't forget, there are really only two kinds of Laker fans: die-hards who will follow the team no matter what and bandwagoners. They might lose a few of the latter if Kobe leaves, but when they inevitably get a star, they'll be back. I don't think there are many KOFs left, most of them probably grew up and picked a team (seeing as Kobe's prime was a few years ago) or converted to Lebron or Wade.
Why doesnt Stephan A Smith say Howard ould go to Houston when hes saying the other places hes always like brooklyn Dallas LA and then other options
You know if Howard has change his mind on Houston you would figure Stephan A Smith would say somthin about it
