My thoughts on what could be a nice deadline deal for Houston.

The Rockets bench can sometimes lack a scorer. Delfino is exactly a creator, and when Harden needs to sit, the Rockets lack a big threat. With that said, Morey should look into Monta Ellis.

Ellis is an expiring contract. He plays the 2gaurd (mostly) and is a great scorer. He would do wonders for our scoring when Harden is out, and we can even see a lineup where ellis goes to SG and Harden to SF.

Now why would MLW trade him?
As previously noted, Ellis is an expiring contract and will cost a lot more next year. He will likely walk from the Bucks.

The Trade can be very simple.

Ppat + Douglas + Aldrich for Ellis

Also, s'il vous please: any deals not made as well as deals of other teams with direct bearing on Rox. While you're at it, a slice of rhubarb pie please.

Why do you say that? Aside from the fact that they don't have a scheduled game tonight.

Not surprised at the quietness(thus far). From Morey to Stein to I'm sure others, they've said Houston isn't likely to do much now, if anything all. Ken Berger did say, fwiw, he thinks there will be less activity than people think due to the new CBA and the luxury tax and this and that and what not.

KB: A lot of talk and teams looking to do things but new financial realities have put a damper on things. Less movement than people expect. Teams are cautious taking on money. Harder to do deals than it used to be.

One deal that would make sense for both teams that I don't believe I've ever seen suggested:

    Carl Landry to Houston

    Patrick Patterson to Golden State

The Warriors are about $1.5 mil over the luxury tax threshold right now. If they make this deal, they drop below the luxury tax threshold. Landry has a player option for 2013-14 that he is highly unlikely to exercise, so Landry would be an unrestricted free agent this summer. So the Rockets would be giving up another year and a half of Patterson in exchange for a half-year of Landry and an additional $3.1 mil in 2013 cap space (i.e., the amount of money Patterson makes in 2013-14). Landry is a fairly significant upgrade over Patterson.

I believe that the Rockets would, after making this deal, still be able to squeeze in that proposed Richard Hamilton salary dump. So the Rockets could parlay about $5 mil of their current cap space into something valuable from the Bulls, and they'd use the rest of it to upgrade at PF (from Patterson to Landry) for the stretch run.

Trade Marcus Morris for Tyler Hansbrough or something and call it a day. TY isn't our answer to the PF problem and he isn't really that good, but at least we'd have someone that likes to play inside, and TY is a strong 6'9" and 250 pounds of muscle.

We'd have enough stretch 4's and we need to get rid of one. And then chase after a legit PF in the offseason.

Anyone else refreshing the bbs at a near psychotic rate? I hit the refresh approximately 30 times today looking for the trade.

I almost feel like I need a new hobby.

Please, Morey. Rid the team of deadweight (read: Morris).

I think we should keep an eye on Boston. If they make a move, I think it will be a big move and more than one.

I honestly like the Rockets for Hamilton from the Bulls(As long as Parsons and Delfino are not involved). He gives us experience, we win more games and he can teach Harden a thing or two especially about defense. And get draft picks would nice too. I don't want the big enchilada this season until the off season. :)

Parsons or Delfino? No, you've got it all wrong. We can get Hamilton for basically nothing. The point of the deal is not about acquiring Hamilton's talents. Chicago has to get rid of Rip's contract to get under the tax threshold and we're one of the few teams that can help them achieve that. The purpose of such a deal is for Morey to get a future draft pick.

We're actually doing the Bulls a favor here so any player of significant value to us won't be part of the deal. They will be the one paying/owing us an asset (draft pick) for all our troubles. So, anything Hamilton does for us would be nothing but gravy.
