I would rather trade a used towel to the Kings for Jimmer Fredette and see how it works out.

And I'm being serious. Probably the lowest risk experiment possible if you're looking for a purely spacing 2 guard; that's about his market value based on how the Kings leverage their assets.

"On Morey's Radar".... sure... willing to give up anything of value for a 2 month rental???... hell no.

I love this guy in a 6th man type of role, and think he's one of the better pure shooters in the game, but he's not someone I want to waste next years salary cap room on, and he's not going to suddenly put this team into contention.

So the question I ask is, unless you are getting him as rental without giving up assets, whats the point?

I might do it if we could trade Lin for him and had a good idea that we would be going all in next year with a Dwight & Millsap addition. Reddick would be cheaper after all.

Then again, maybe Lin will make a leap next year into a good PG; it's a risk.

According to Woj article, JJ is going to demand a 7+ mill per year contract this year and his agent wants a 4 year 40 mill contract. That's a lot for a bench sparkplug. We should look for a defensive minded PF.

Id like that kind of money too, but that doesn't mean anyone is going to give it to me.

Look there will be teams looking to acquire him, but its mostly going to be non-lux tax paying teams who are over the cap. Those teams have the ability to use their full Mid Level Exception which JJ Reddick fits perfectly into.

You look at the list of teams next year and its pretty thin for contending teams that aren't lux tax paying teams. My guess from looking at the teams with the ability to give this exception are Portland, Detroit, and Atlanta are teams that would be in a place to give him the full mid level exception.

The only teams with 7+ mil a year to give JJ will be rebuilding teams who are saving that cap space for a max level player to sign or trade for... not JJ Reddick.

If we could get Reddick he'd help us a fair bit for this season... but then he'd walk in FA to another team willing to spend ~$8M per.

Morey is probably just looking to use our cap space to eat someone's contracts for picks, never know when another big time trade could come down.

Perhaps Minny offloads Roy to us for their first rounder and we give up a couple of our PFs.

I would like Redick, if we can get him for almost nothing. Like, I would trade Morris for him... maybe a 2nd rounder... but that's about it.

I don't think we would re-sign him, I think he would just be a rental and maybe a way to dump Morris so that McHale will be forced to give D-Mo or Jones some PT.

Redick is my favorite college basketball player of all time. I loved watching him shoot threes at Duke.

That being said, I don't think it's a good idea for the Rockets to trade for him right now. He's the type of player that is a good signing in the off season to fill out the roster after landing another max player.

Redick is the opposite of a Morey player. He's a Dukie. Which Duke player have you EVER seen not be overpaid?

Carlos Boozer, Shane Battier, Chris Duhon, Elton freaking Brand. even Luol Deng's is not worth his salary at 12M per, given what he brings. When you pay a Dukie you get a strong clubhouse presence who you can be sure will have a good agent and take nothing less than market value.

JJ Redick is gonna get paid this summer. Just not by us.
