Go through Joe Budden's "Mood Music" collection. I relate to so much of his stuff. Over the years, I've collected all of his work and I still listen to something of his each day. Auditory therapy.
I agree with this one. I've heard Only two of his tapes.. 4th one and the 1st one. I love the 4th one. Were 2 and 3 any good? My favorite from 4 was sober up and inseparable..
All of them are great. He's introspective and not afraid to share his feelings about his battle with chronic depression, failed relationships and addiction to pain killers. My personal favorite is his album "Halfway House." It used to only be available by download, but I think you can buy it on Amazon now. I really like this one with the Coldplay sample. If you like Joey and can recognize his creativity and ability to work with a theme, you'll appreciate this one. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/cb9JZN1-ULc?list=PL001AB2969A3EFEF3" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

" It was fear of myself that made me odd", by alexisonfire. Great song. Supposedly based off a short story, that I obviously never read, by Kurt Vonnegut. I guarantee nobody in your class is doing it. God I love that song. Another good song by the band, also supposedly based off a Vonnegut short story, is called Happiness By The Kilowatt. Both are great songs and would perfectly fit as the subject for this paper, and in my opinion.

That songs was his "push" into the industry. I thought he was terrible at first, but then I listened to some of his other songs, and he's not bad. In interviews, he's actually intelligent, despite the get-up.

I'll check it out. Seems like you are a big budden fan. so have you heard his new album? It looks different from all his other work.
Besides Nas, Budden is my favorite. He doesn't get the level of respect he should. Not even close. He's a better lyricist than anybody on the radio. Talent-wise, I think he's on the same echelon as Em, Nas, AZ, etc.... I think his appearances in Love and Hip Hop will help him get more publicity, but I already fear what it's done to him. His new CD, "No Love Lost" is mostly the same Joey I'm used to, but he has so many guest spots. I think he was looking to make some money on this one because he allowed Wiz, Wayne and (horrible) French Montana on there. It's a decent album, though not my favorite. This is my favorite from that album: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/SSCGfj4joH0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Listen to 2112 by Rush. It's 20 minutes long, has a narrative plus was inspired by a work by Ayn Rand (controversial, I know, but still "literature"). Long story short it's about keeping your individuality regardless of the pressure to conform. If you want a little more obscure (both as a piece and from a literature point of view) listen to Hemispheres by Rush. It's only 18 minutes long and it's theme is the battle between the heart and mind and the need for balance. Classic Apollonian vs. Dionysian story line. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cygnus_X-1_duology http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apollonian_and_Dionysian http://www.vccaedu.org/inquiry/vcca-journal/thro.html Oh, and for fans of Clockwork Angels, that story is really just a re-telling of Hemispheres with the Watchmaker sitting in for Apollo and the Anarchist sitting in for Dionysus.
Oh I see. I think Crooked I is way better than him. Personally, I wouldn't put him with Nas but thats on everyones opinions. My favorite rap album of the last decade was "below the heavens" by blu.. Still is. I want Jay Electronica to come out with something. For 90s, I have too many albums that I enjoy.
Take me out tonight Where there's music and there's people And they're young and alive Driving in your car I never never want to go home Because I haven't got one Anymore Take me out tonight Because I want to see people and I Want to see life Driving in your car Oh, please don't drop me home Because it's not my home, it's their Home, and I'm welcome no more And if a double-decker bus Crashes into us To die by your side Is such a heavenly way to die And if a ten-ton truck Kills the both of us To die by your side Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine Take me out tonight Take me anywhere, I don't care I don't care, I don't care And in the darkened underpass I thought Oh God, my chance has come at last (But then a strange fear gripped me and I Just couldn't ask) Take me out tonight Oh, take me anywhere, I don't care I don't care, I don't care Driving in your car I never never want to go home Because I haven't got one, da ... Oh, I haven't got one And if a double-decker bus Crashes into us To die by your side Is such a heavenly way to die And if a ten-ton truck Kills the both of us To die by your side Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine Oh, There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
The Doors have some good stuff for this. "Crawling King Snake", "Roadhouse Blues", etc. Also, "Come Together" by The Beatles has often had a lot of questions over the lyrics...is it a song about The Beatles members, or about society in general, do they represent different major countries at the time?
b**** Bad by Lupe Fiasco. And I'm 100% serious. That song really has food for thought. Hold your judgement until you listen to it or read the lyrics.
I agree. Most Lupe songs usually do. The whole album he was trying to send a message about different things. And what song you pick 713?
