because his scoring is effortless. He and durant or a lot alike. melo just lifts and he can get his shot off, probably easier than durant. he can score from anywhere anytime.

    very alex english like.

kobe can get his shot off easily but he always needs to have that perfect form.

watched the replay on NBAtv last night after I read this thread. the only thing I didn't catch was the apology, but what happened was Reggie cited the wrong author of the article.

so any apology or update might have been to attribute/identify the correct author, regardless of its content.

and Reggie most definitely picked Memphis as the dark horse in the eastern conference.

and not one of his coworkers called him on it.

edit: I see what happened now, have to admit I was totally confused as to what went down originally based on the OP.

    No its not.

If anyone is a "pure scorer" by definition, its Durant. I dont see Carmelo getting better lift or separation than Durant. At this point I would even take Harden by your definition. Harden's game seems effortless.

Melo takes bad shots with hands in his face, often times fading away. He also forces the issue in the paint, often time needing multiple tries to put the ball in the basket. All he does is shoot shoot shoot, so people start thinking, wow this is really easy for him.

If Lebron started jacking up shots like Melo, he would be averaging over 35ppg easily, most probably at 40ppg. And then by your definition, he would be "purest" scorer.

Well, stop making r****ded statements then, especially if you are so sensitive.

Carmelo can make bad shots, while Durant and Lebron cannot?! *sheesh*

    1) I credit the other two for not taking the bad shots that Carmelo does.

    2) Durant and Lebron will be better at making those shots, anyways.

    So, whats your argument again?

Until Durant can post up like Carmelo, I'll still consider Carmelo the best all around scorer in the game. Does that mean he's better than Durant? Nope but you can't argue that Carmelo can't do it all on the offensive side.

I guess in some regards, I am a Carmelo hater. I don't think he's an efficient player, I don't think he possesses superstar qualities the way that he likes to portray himself, and I certainly don't think he's "transcendent" the way Durant is. I agree that Melo is a fabulous scorer, and that he can put the ball in the hoop.....but if you're saying that Melo and Durant are on the same level in terms of efficiency, playmaking ability, and overall skills, then you're just as wrong as Miller.

Carmello played one year of college and so did Durant. One has a ring. When carmello's teams.were healthy in Denver they were very good.

Most overrated scorer. Still don't get how he is the most "pure" scorer when he has never won a scoring title and all he does is focus on offense.
