What I am saying is that the equivalence is being imposed by the gay rights movement itself. They want the equivalence of terms, so it is no longer false equivalence. I think that is the point you aren't getting.

Let me throw it at you another way, how can gay and straight be equal if we cannot use the terms interchangeably? They lose equality if that is so. This is not what the gay rights campaign wants, they want the terms to be equal. So, they are the ones actually imposing the notion that my metaphor is apt. Your logic that the terms are not equal is actually what is under fire by the gay rights movement itself! If you want to remove the equality of the terms and set back the gay rights agenda be my guest.

You might call it immaturity but I call it equality. It's either all ok, or none of it is ok. This is what equality is, these groups are the same only being separated by minor differences and should be treated the same. If you impose the notion that one group is protected we are no longer equal, that group is superior (or lesser depending on your point of view) to us. So you have to ask yourself, am I supporting gay rights for equality or superiority? If it's equality then the two terms are equal and my metaphor stands. If it's superiority then you are right and you're rationale about the terms being incongruent stands. The gay rights agenda is seeking equality last time I checked...

 

Fine, you are apparently determined to win this ridiculous argument through whatever convoluted logic you can come up with. Nobody here is going to be successful in convincing anyone else to change his mind.

So, let's just leave it alone. You can continue going around calling things 'gay' like a 5th grader (no doubt winning the hearts and minds of everybody you deal with on a daily basis). And I will continue to think doing so is immature and offensive.

It allows for dialogue on this issue by REGULAR NBA fans who normally wouldnt be talking about it. And they can attempt to discuss constructively.

Its semi-similar to GARM talking about mental health with the Royce White issues, can treat this like a sensitive social issue related to b-ball.

It'd be a BAD SIGN if this was moved to D&D, because it'd mean people are BEING JACKASSES not containing themselves, and the thread is moved as "punishment".

It can be seen as a positive that the thread is here, cuz itd indicate people are having responsible enough behavior. And maybe it'd show the gay issue isnt AS big a deal and people are more tolerent enough now.
