People who trash Morey don't know how godawful the vast majority of NBA GMs are.

If we make the playoffs, we send out pick to the Hawks.

Oh, that sucks. I'd still rather have have our guys get some playoff experience. Who knows, there's a decent chance we could win a series, if we get the right matchup.

We need to give our damn pick up so we can actually shop next year's. as long as we owe ATL our pick, our hands are tied.

Without the NEW CBA, Morey could be out of job.

It's quite baffling that some fans think that the Harden trade was all luck neglecting the fact that it was all Morey who essentially put us in a great position for such a deal.

Yes we haven't had much playoff success and appearances in his tenure but what is his fault that both of our stars got injured and eventually left the nba? And instead of suffering all the bad luck and becoming a bad team for the next several years, Morey made some gutsy deals such as the Luis Scola amnesty and getting rid of unwanted contracts to position outseles where we are at right now.

Most small market GM's would've just overpaid players to remedy the losses, made short term moves, and be in NBA purgatory. Not Daryl Morey. The result, we had the best available package when a star like Harden became available, plus, we'll have mad salary cap space come off-season.

And to put the cherry on top, we're actually in the playoff hunt this year while we're clearly in a rebuild phase.

Rockets dont need Picks to a pick this year, they need money. Rockets live looked into this. They said Rockets would have roughly 3.1 million dollars to throw at teams. Les is willing to spend the money, he always has.

Rockets trench-coats will toss 10-15 dufflebags full of 1.00 dollabillz in the middle of some basketball arena, douse it all down with lighter fluid, light a cigar and say "1st round pick, and you can keep the money."

Rockets get there beloved Draft pick / or picks (I wont get into detail how they going to do that)

sorry just watched Gangster Squad, legit flick check it out

Morey may make a trade and take on a player with an expiring contract for a draft pick or something along those lines. It's almost cap deadline and teams are looking for relief by dumping unwanted contracts so they won't be in the luxury.

That trade was luck. Morey admits Harden fell in their laps. Washington, Cleveland, Charlotte, and other teams OKC wanted to trade with (OKC was really interested in Beal and Waiters) knew that Harden wanted a 5 year max deal and didn't want to give it to him. If they knew what they know now about Harden, he wouldn't be in a Rockets uniform.

But it took gumption for Morey to give Harden that contract when no one else would (especially due to the fact that Alexander paid a sixth man of the year before from Utah (Anderson) and it didn't pan out) and now he's grinning like the fat cat that swallowed the rat...

Harden is a game changer so Morey deserves a contract extension just for him regardless on how he got him.

That's not what he's saying. He's saying Morey completely blew up the previous team, and he's STILL got a playoff contender with an entirely new team. Morey knows how to pick 'em.

He is a great one. I hate that he let Dragic go but he is right that player options should only be offered to franchise caliber players.

Morey is the very definition of mediocre. The Rockets have been mediocre ever since he had been the GM. He is the absolute truest example of mediocre of any GM in the NBA.

All he does is make trades, make draft picks, etc. and the team just changes players and coaches, but the one constant is that the team is always a middle of the pack team. Never terrible, and never good.

Never a joke team, and never a serious team.

Sure there are worse GMs than him, but he's not a good GM. He's pure mediocrity.

True and there are hundreds of GMs in Europe, dozens in Greece alone, who are better than Morey. Morey would be the worst GM if he was European.

So a great GM is one who doesn't make trades, doesn't make draft picks, keeps the same players and coaches?

It seems your evaluation of Morey narrowly equates to the teams winning percentage.

They don't have general managers in Europe.
