The deal would obviously be this:

Paul Millsap and Jamaal Tinsley to the Clippers

Eric Bledsoe and Lamar Odom (expiring contract) to the Jazz

No draft picks would need to be involved here.

Utah gets a good young asset in Bledsoe and finds out if he can be an average or better than average starting PG in this league (I'm skeptical). Odom does not get re-signed, obviously, and may well be bought out shortly after the deal goes down. Utah has obviously decided that re-signing Millsap is cost prohibitive and wants to take what they can get for him by 2/21.

The Clippers sell high on Bledsoe, whose value will never be higher in this league, receive an acceptable backup PG replacement in Tinsley, and significantly upgrade at the forward position with Millsap. Millsap is a whole lot better than Odom. The Clippers are clearly going for it with this move. I think it will happen.

I used to be one of the guys advocating for a Millsap trade, and for signing Millsap to a long term extension, but I've come to realize that this is not a great idea, and also that this is not what Daryl Morey wants to do. And Bledsoe is not going to take Jeremy Lin's starting job away from him, so why would Houston want to trade valuable assets for a backup PG? Why do so many fans think that it's a good idea to make a big investment in backup PGs? I will never understand it.

This. Why get a pretty good player when you can wait and get a great one?

I really wish the Rockets would go after Bledsoe, he would be a great addition to the Rockets team - and we have a glut at the PF position that needs some house cleaning.

Morey needs to jump into the Bledsoe sweepstakes. Any of our 4s not named DMo should be made available. Hell offer Pat and Delfino. just get this kid!

I think Bledsoe is good and all...he's athletic and can play defense I guess...He still hasn't proved that he'd be a good starting PG though. Honestly I feel like this is Collison all over again.

Chris Paul may turn out to be a pretty good coach.

So you'd rather sit on the bench and back up CP3 then be the starting PG on another team? Makes sense.

I guess you don't value making more money either right?

I think Utah would be delighted to do this trade.

I dunno why the Clippers would do this. I thought Bledsoe's value would be more than just getting someone who is a free agent in 5 months and also is gonna be a bench player.

If this trade goes through, it makes Clippers stronger. Their half court offense and defense will improve. They will have two legitimate threats in the post along with two feeders of the post (Paul and Billups) at the same time.

You can pretty much book Clippers and Heat in the Finals baring any serious injuries.

Total bull rumor. Trade simply isn't going to happen. Clips not moving Bledsoe for a pending free agent that is going to want a starting gig with his next team. On top of the fact that Clips have to wait for Paul to actually re-sign.

    Where to begin?

    1) Eric Bledsoe's trade value is higher right now than it ever will be again. The closer he gets to free agency, the less valuable he becomes. The longer a player is under team/cost control, the more valuable he is.

    2) Bledsoe is the latest in an extremely long line of "The sky's the limit" overhyped young guys who aren't really going to ever get much better than they already are.

    3) Whoever acquires Bledsoe is just over a year away from having to pay him something like four years, $36-$40 mil as a free agent. I doubt he is going to be worth that kind of money.

    4) Paul Millsap, like all players, is pretty much going to sign with whoever pays him the most money. If the Clippers want to re-sign him (and I think they probably will), and if they pay him as much or more than anybody else, he isn't going to care that he isn't a starter.

    5) The reason teams play the games, other than to generate revenue, is to actually win as many games as possible, and to preferably win the championship. The Clippers have a better shot at winning the championship this year with Millsap and Tinsley than with Odom and Bledsoe.

    6) The idea that the Clippers want to hold on to Bledsoe until they are sure that Chris Paul is going to re-sign is stupid. Of course Paul is going to re-sign. The Clippers can pay him a lot more money than anybody else plus he wants to be there. So why would you not trade a guy in Bledsoe whose trade value is sky high yet who only plays maybe 10-15 minutes/game for you?

    7) Finally, the Clippers are not going to want to bother with Bledsoe when Bledsoe hits free agency. Why would the Clippers want to match a four year, $36-$40 mil offer sheet for a guy who plays 10-15 minutes/game?

I'd try for Eric Bledsoe + Caron Butler for Kevin Garnett.

I would definitely NOT give up DeAndre Jordan for Garnett. Garnett is not worth all that at this moment of his career.
