Put your crowd-sucks-saturday-night-festivities-were-lame rants aside and think of the charities! $555,000 was donated to charity tonight
LOL who saw this from Kobe? <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>At least lil @<a href="https://twitter.com/cp3">cp3</a> and baby Mamba can play together NBA can't veto this one Ha! <a href="http://t.co/pJAjr2wJ" title="http://twitter.com/kobebryant/status/302969480521326592/photo/1">twitter.com/kobebryant/sta…</a></p>— Kobe Bryant (@kobebryant) <a href="https://twitter.com/kobebryant/status/302969480521326592">February 17, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
My interests for this weekend was James White, Steve Novak, Gerald Green, Jeremy Lin. All of them bombed. Not the event hosters fault there. If they were to get stars, it'd be for MAAAAYBE 2 contests but probably just ONE. Then after that, who? Would have to count on the John Wall, Russell Westbrook types. It'd be a temp star boost, but very short lived. But most the qualified name dunkers have already competed enough or worn their welcome out the Josh Smith, Dwight Howard bunch, then other guys like Rudy Gay, Jr Smith, Iguodala, etc. It'd go right back to squeezing in some Dion Waiters types. They'd need to have it all hardcore like the US Olympic team, having the players COMMIT to multiple years. Just not worth the effort. Why didnt he do this THIS YEAR in his HOME CITY? A little Lob City woulda been MUCH NEEDED buzz.

He would've won if somehow he could've taken the black cloth off the painting during the dunk, as he was jumping over it.
All in all...that was not the worst Allstar Saturday & it wasn't the best, but it was much, much, much closer to the worst than being anywhere near the best. Dunk contest needs appearance money. Imagine if LeBron, Durant, Westbrook, McGee, Green, Jordan, Kobe back to defend his old crown...etc Also 3 dunks first round at least, maybe even 5...I mean come on. Tonight's format was horrible. Keep the East vs West thing going but have 4 competitors in each conference, top 2 in each go to a final 4 show down...etc. Another rant. I hate the celebrity & legends match ups... I would love to see a legends game. Out of the game or retired for 5(?) years or more. Imagine Barkley & the crew getting in shape for the All-Star Legends? Hakeem Barkley Horry Drexler Kenny Smith ( finally an All-Star!) Vs Ewing Webber Pippen Jordan Magic ...10 min qtrs blah blah... Who wouldn't like to see that? Anyway a few nice dunks, but mostly meh.
For everyone complaining about Houston hosting the all star game, the club scene was awesome last night in Downtown. Saw Dwight Howard and Jordan Hill, and im sure many other people were there. There was plenty of parking and everything was in walking distance with alot of police around. I think Houston does a great job of hosting all the VIP's in the City which is what the NBA really cares about. So I think we will be seeing more all star games in Houston in the near future as well as superbowls and final fours. I think you guys worry too much about sports.
I am so disappointed last night, all we saw is stars from Heats or Clippers on the courtside, or Melo. They are really not shy from spotlight, but where are the stars from the other teams? We seldom saw players from Houston, is this our house?
There's no question about it...it's not a coincidence they came back again after 2006 so soon. It will be here again...within 10 years.
