He needs to start as an assistant coach. Then give him a couple of years and re-evaluate.

you can't just become a coach for a team, you have to work your way up.

    Get Mutombo to coach.

There have been numerous reports of him being a great motivational speaker.

Sam Cassell was a master at creating his own jump shots and posting up smaller guards. In his last 2 seasons with the Clippers, he totally owned Chris Paul in the high post. Even though he's much slower and 15 years older, he could use his size and his savvy to his advantage. He can be a great mentor to Harden, Lin, and Parsons.

The organization might as well reward one of its own as one poster here suggested that there is no statistical difference between good and great coaches.

Haha... this is highly debatable but I enjoy the sentimentality of the theory.

I'd rather have Rudy T back...with Sam and Mario as his assistants.

There's some Rockets clutchness for ya!

he'd be a perfect coach based on what? How did you draw this conclusion?

Just because someone is a rocket favorite doesn't mean he'd make a perfect coach for the rockets.

Would Michael Jordan be the perfect coach for the Bulls?

He has already been an assistant coach for a couple of years.
