If they are idiots, why respond to them and drown all the other discussion?

What a load of crap. Besides McHale doesn't need you to prop him up any more than Lin does by his fans.

You seem to assume that every NBA coach actually knows what they are doing. Keith Smart is an idiot of a coach & Lindsey Hunter is still learning on the job. Remember what Mike Brown said before he got fired? I have twitter followers who know more about the NBA than those guys. There are some legitimately stupid coaches & stupid front offices out there for your information.

I am not saying that McHale doesn't know what he is doing nor am I saying that McHale is a bad coach. But I resent your premise that they are a coach & you are a fan therefore it is egotistical of you to question them. For example, weren't there a few people that said maybe splitting Lin & Harden's minutes would be smart when Sampson was the coach & then McHale comes back & says he intends on doing that? Or weren't there others who said that since Harden is left dominant & Lin is right dominant situating them on the inverse wing of there dominant hand would be wise. And then McHale comes back & said he intends to do exactly that. Does that mean that those guys are NBA coaching material hell no but that does mean that they can't provide legitimate insight just because they don't sit on the bench holding the clipboard.

    Just a little perspective.

Having an ast/to ratio over 2 means nothing.

Carmelo, Durant, Kobe, Harden, Irving, pierce, Wade all have ratios under 2 and have extremely high usage rates. The only reason Durant and wade don't lead there teams in usg is because of exceptional teammates. Sadly Lin is not Lebron or Westbrook so just like every other team our best player is going to have our highest usage rate regardless of their ast/to ratio.

Well it seems like everyone in the "FIRE MCFAIL" group are Lin fans, Rockets fans are satisfied that their team is winning and might make the playoffs despite the odds against it. Lin fans don't care about how the team is doing, they are just upset that Lin doesn't have the ball more than anyone else and that he's not getting 38 minutes a game, and that he's not leading the team in every offensive category.

What about the people who were posting in this thread before Lin was a Rocket? And please, your assumptions that ALL lin fans only care about him and not the team is asinine. Please stop lumping in all Lin fans with a couple overly emotional people in this thread.

Not all Lin fans care more about Lin's performance than the team's performance, but certainly the one's who want to fire McHale simply because they want Lin to play more minutes.

As to those who wanted him fired after only 60 games (with a winning record), you should probably just ignore people like that because they aren't the brightest. ANY coach should be given some time before the "FIRE THEM" calls start, especially when they are coaching a rebuilding team that manages to win.

Wait, what, so they're still running the Adelman offense? I could have sworn I saw a post on another thread saying they gave that up already.

Yes it does mean something. Almost every PG is 2 or better. It's a sign of a very good ball handler and passer. All the people you mentioned except Irving are NOT PG's. Hence their relatively poor ratio. Means they shouldn't be handling the ball as much as the PG.

Having an assist ratio of 2 or better just means you are top 52 in the league. Lin is tied for 58th in the league....probably not a stat you want to point to when trying to suggest he's awesome. After all, there are 40 point guards with a better ratio than Lin.

In no way did I prove your point because that would suggest you had a point. You didn't. You still don't.

I know they aren't all point guards, that was the point. They are exceptional players with ast/to ratios under 2.0 that are also league leaders in usg rate. Most of whom are on good to great teams. My point is your assertion that because Lin has an ast/to ratio better than 2 therefor should have the highest usg rate on the team is just wrong.

Still a LOT better than anyone else on the Rockets. Harden is 78th and leads the league with 200 turnovers. People say he should have the highest usage rate but based on the FACTS he shouldn't. Lin has the best assist/turnover on the team BY FAR. Let him run the offense.
