im sure that his poor play in the early part of the season still influences mchale's decisions. and i personally dont buy that mchale dislikes lin, instead he simply doesnt believe in him.
Yeah I like Lin but at least I present the facts. As much as you hate it the facts are on my side in regards to his playing time and usage. If you care to present some facts that say otherwise I will look at them objectively. I don't have to be right and I would like to be wrong about my opinion of McHale but unfortunately the facts are pointing to bias against Lin. Maybe I'm wrong like he's protecting Lin's health and I would b cool with that. I'm not seeing any facts though to support that theory.
Intruding here, but it isn't about how good he is. For example, the Clippers bench is really deep and has playmakers like Crawford & Bledsoe so it makes sense that CP3 is playing the lowest minutes of his career. Also Parker is much older now & we all know how anal pop is about limiting the playtime of his big 3. Just a few thoughts.
I don't buy it. I mean, I see your point, but there were good stretches, winning stretches where he was allowed to play the pg position and were given screens keeping him aggressive. But, after every game he did not do extremely well in, McHale perched Lin to the corner again. The system allows for a pg to manage the floor game a la Nash, McHale just doesn't believe that Lin is a player who can be good enough to be a floor general. (No, this is not a Nash comparison) McHale does not like Lin-centric plays, his forays into the lane, etc. as he feels Lin is not good enough to make "home run" plays and makes too many errors. I don't know how many times Lin would drive in and if it doesn't work out, McHale would berate him for it, and have Lin pass it off the rest of the game or bench him. In the Clippers game, Lin had a good first quarter and when he made a couple of mistakes in the 2nd, he quickly and very noticeably shifted the offense to Parsons until the end of the game. He just doesn't feel comfortable with Lin being the spearhead of the offense. He wants him to bring it up and pass it to Harden, except in transition, and go to the corner 3. Now, who can play well when your coach keeps telling you not to drive (make "home run plays") and just pass it off and hit the corner 3 when it comes, cuz you're liable to make a bad decision if you initiate the offense. Once again, in my opinion, McHale's lack of trust in Lin is holding Lin and thereby the Rockets back, not the system. Someone up there pointed out the decent stats of Lin this month and how he still has one of the lowest minutes in his position. This is the dichotomy I see between what I see from Lin (good pg play) and what McHale seems to see (mistake filled risk taker who is not good enough to carry the load on offense).
What?? McHale not believing that Lin is a good player does not mean he hates him. McHale not believing that Lin is good enough to be the clear second option nor to be the floor general of the team does not mean he hates him. I think it's your logic that's off..
his linsanity 3's were with the ball in his hands. for example 3's off a pick are in rhythm and he is a good 3pt shooter from that position. in this offense where the ball keeps moving, he is made into a spot 3 point shooter. imo his footwork is simply not good for spot shooting. he takes a small hop before shooting, that's why he steps on the line so much.
To be frank minutes are kind of irrelevant. Lin is involved in the 3rd most possessions on this roster. Harden is first Parsons is second. I think that is fair.
Well Parker is just 30. Also, the Rockets bench is pretty deep. Not necessarily at PG, but with Harden being able to handle the ball so much they can afford to rest Lin more.
You haven't presented crap. The only thing you've shown is that McHale is limiting Lin's time but your "facts" for the reason are crap.
You've been typically very reasonable. Honestly, do you think McHale is sitting Lin in the 4th to rest him more? Really? You see, my contention is that people typically are so sensitive to crazy Lin fans that they sometimes get blinded to logic. Same goes vice versa, I sometimes overread a comment cuz of all the crazy hate Lin gets.
I think Lin is a little more "raw" as a player and still has a lot ot learn, thus his minutes get shaved a bit here and there.
I'm glad you think I am someone on the internet. Because I can assure you that despite helping me alleviate hours of office boredom over the years, I'm very sure my "standing" online is pretty non-existent. You might be the first person to try to attack me on a personal level on this board. Maybe I should be happy about my ECred? At least I'm starting to garner hate on a personal level.
