Because I really really really want to report him but don't want to feel like a scumbag since I know the guy.. so I'm looking for positive affirmation that I'm not being a dick and a lot of ppl feel the same way I do. Honestly I'm just hoping he looks at me the wrong way or somethingso I will have an excuse

I probably wouldn't, I would just have much less respect for the person. But I don't think it's wrong to do so.

It seems like it is usually the people who don't like social net programs ideologically that are the quickest to abuse them. They assume that everybody is doing it, so they should get theirs. Conversely, people who support the concept seem to me to be more likely to decline to apply for benefits they should take, because they want to leave it for someone who 'really needs it.' That's backed up by no data, just a couple of anecdotes I've run across.

More than the medicaid fraud, he's just not paying his taxes.

would you report a friend if they robbed someone and got away with it? Because that's essentially what you're allowing to happen. Sack up.

So you call up Medicare and then what?

Somehow I doubt they will care much.

The link that was posted before is for Medicaid. And they will recoup the money paid to them and more

Medicare/Medicaid fraud is taken very seriously. A hospital down the road was fined several million dollars for giving patients heart stents when then patients were not eligible.

edit: reread what you posted Mr OP. I was thinking he was defrauding as a provider. His issue will be with both the taxman and the medicaid.

You don't think college falls under "personal gain"?

I would definitely report the guy.

What I would warn you about, is that you might think you know, but you don't really know. Just like he doesn't know eveything about you. I wouldn't report it. Let Medicaid do their job. They are the experts. This thing could easily turn on you, because whiile you think you are perfect, don't think for one second people aren't talking about what you are doing behind your back too. And while he might be willing to look the other way now, he'll know who reported him, and he'll be coming right back at your world and trying to take it down. And if somehow he's in the right, now you're the neighborhood ass. Everyone is making mistakes in life, all day long, you too, and it will come back to bite you. So I'd just warn you that you don't really know anything about what is going on behind this guys door even if you think you do. And that you should not only look the other way, but don't lose any more respect for him either, because you ain't perfect. Better to just be happy and get along in life. it will be much more enjoyable than letting it eat at you, or tearing down somone's life. The latter two won't make you sleep any better. I think it's a fine line on when to report something, but this is not it, there are more qualified folks already looking into this.
