Can we free up enough cap to bring in a Max guy(Dwight) and Carl Landry?

Let me first start by saying I love Mandry. He is a legit high efficiency low post player. His only weakness is defense which Howard would help cover up for. Carl Landry has a players option for 4 million bucks. I'm pretty sure he will turn it down to get a longer deal with more money. If somehow we get Dwight this off-season. Could we dump some of our young guys like Morris, PPat, and White on some other team for picks and sign him? Would we have enough money?

    Lin/Douglas/Beverly
    Harden/Delfino/Anderson
    Parsons/Delfino/Anderson
    Landry/D-mo/Jones
    Howard/Asik

You are suggesting dumping PPat's rookie contract for CLandy's "longer deal with more money (than $4 million per year)"...

I don't think there is a big enough jump in contribution to warrant that type of move. Plus, PPat spreads the floor far better than CLandry.

All three of those guys we would dump could end up better than Landry so I wouldn't do that even if I could IMO.

You'll most likely need to involve one of the 3 bigger money contracts to get there.

If we got Howard, we would immediately go into win now mode. So potential really isn't that important unless its one of your core guys.

CLandry mid-range jump shot is just as good as PPat's and he can create his own shot. The only thing we would lose is 3 point shooting.

Landry won't come back and although I loved what he did, he is far from the answer and probably would have to live up to crazy standards since we all remember the energy he brought and what he did when he was here. He can never live up to that, let the past be the past ;)

Landry at this point of his career is a serviceable rotation player.

And the better introductory books are Freakonomics and basic statistics for dummies.

If we get Dwight, I can almost guarantee you we trade Asik and Lin for another close to max player (minimum Asik would be traded). And Asik's value will be HIGH. A trade like Asik + Lin for Rondo etc would be very doable. Would we have enough money for Landry I don't know but I do agree, Landry would be a good fit next to Howard.

Howard sucks bro!! He has no dribbling ability..Not a single offensive move that he can go to..The guy struggles in so many ways..and hes hurt. Why get Howard when Rockets can pick up 2 quality role players..Rockets are winning because of passing..Playing like a Euro team..No need for an overpaid single player..That is unless the guy is a total offensive threat..Howard is not

Landry isn't going to bring you much outside of scoring. He really isn't a starter, as the Kings found out.

Pats probably better as an off the ball guy in our starting lineup. Landry would be great off the bench as the go to scoring threat.

Howard is better than Asik and we are barely an 8th seed in the West, if their is a chance for us to get Dwight Morey will go after him

Assuming the salary cap does not go up, to sign Dwight at a max salary starting at $20.51 million, we will need to dump Patterson and Morris, and waive Delfino and Smith:

    http://rockets.clutchfans.net/3407/houston-rockets-salary-cap-james-harden/

Plus we would get hit for the minimum salary apportionment of five empty roster spots, so we still wouldn't have enough room. So I don't see how we sign Dwight and still keep Asik. He will have to be moved before or as part of the Dwight signing.

Landry should only come off the bench. Doesn't people remember his many unfixable flaws like weak defense poor rebounder short arms etc.
