When tracking stats, these half court shots should not be considered as a shot attempt if it misses, just like how a miss shot does not count if the player is fouled; but it should count if it goes in.

I thought most are all about taking "smart" and "good" shots. Half-court heaves are "bad" shots no??? :)

Either way has little impact to reality. How often does a lucky heave win you a game? And how much percentage point does a missed heave affect your overall season (let alone career) percentage?

To me it's a non issue.

Shots from beyond the half court should be worth 5 points. I'm sure more players would take that risk.

Durant does score in the flow of the game. I think one of the common criticisms leveled against Durant is that he doesn't "take over" games - he doesn't force things.

Also - w/r/t not taking the heave when it can impact the game - I'm sure if the game was on the line he would take it. But really what does it matter? WB takes that last second heave for the Thunder every single time.

Why the hell would the coach have the ball go to Durant if he won't shoot it? I'd tell the team that in the last seconds give the ball to Westbrook.

The "better" answer is to be more honest, not crafty. Besides, your suggestion isn't crafty at all. It's insulting to everyone's intelligence.

The chances of making the shot may be very small but it's still > 0%.

Just take the shot, all it costs is an FGA.

Lebron didn't give a damn about his 30 PT on 60% shooting record. Shot up a 3 a few feet behind the 3 pt line with a minute left..and he already had it in the bag tonight and could have extended the record easily.

if you're playing against the spurs, why would you even consider attempting a shot at the buzzer. there are land mines all over waiting to take your ankles out.

LOL yeah, maybe every 1000 games. C'mon dude 1 half court/full court shot has extremely minimal effect on the game.

Obviously you'd want the guy to take the shot because your own stats has no bearing on the game, but Durant isn't perfect. He has his own flaws, just like how Lebron or Kobe has theirs. I'd rather the guy be concerned about his stats and not throw up half court heaves than have no concern about stats and at all and start chucking shots every possession like West Brook. As far as flaws go, it's one of the least harmful flaws ever.

It's strange. I wouldn't expect that out of top players who are already established. You're KD, what more do you need to prove? At that point your most important stat is wins.

If you're a scrub trying to earn a spot on the team or a marginal starter trying to keep his job then I would get it.

Almost felt like he went out of his way. He clearly did not care at all all about his record when he kept chucking up shot clock heaves in the 4th when the game was already over.

Meanwhile Durant sulking incessantly about phantom foul calls he felt entitled to and getting T'd up for his efforts.

The difference in the score of last night's game was a three point half-court buzzer beater taken by Harden.

Durant has really become a whiny, unlikeable stat padder. I always see him try to stat pad in the 4th when his stats aren't too good. Case in point the Miami game where he was horrible.

Also ridiculous the amount of calls he gets in his favor and if he doesn't get favorable calls he whines.

That foul on Parsons against him with like 1 minute left and we were up like 6 was pretty ridiculous. Although, my least favorite player who gets calls is Dirk. Every time Dirk does anything on offense, they'll blow the whistle and give him shots when really it's just Dirk being awkward and uncoordinated.

Well, LeBron already broke a record.

There's a major difference in trying to break the record, and extending the said record.
